It seems to be strengthening over land, and a distinct eye has formed. either sleep deprivation has finally caught up with me, or man oh man, this is weird.

No change since the last post. The only thing that's certain right now is that a very large swath of coast somewhere is gonna hate life.

First: The GFDL has shifted south, more in line with the rest of the models. However, the rest of the models have spread themselves out to hell after the Yucatan. The Gulfstream IV jet is going out to collect more data tonight/tomorrow morning, and the Hurricane Hunters are constantly in and out of the storm. So hold tight, Galveston. 17/00z model runs are out. General consensus is a further north/right track. At this point we're watching between the TX/MX border, and southern LA. The UKMET model shows a due north turn after the storm makes landfall. This is of concern because the models don't always get timing and course corrections matched up, especially since this storm is ( Read more... )
