arrrrhhhhhh
marathon storm spotting
what was supposed to be an hour or two, if I got up to laurel hill in time, of storm spotting ended up being a 5+ person operation, with me and KG4SRH trapesing all over
weird parts of the county (link goes to an overpass over I-10; you can see FOREVER).
significant rainfall, winds of 42+ mph in fort walton beach. 70+ mph winds in baker. straight line wind damage to trees. a couple (5+) doppler-indicated tornadoes and waterspouts. 3-5 inches of standing water on the roads. ugly.
it was only supposed to be a look-see. heh.
but national weather service office in Mobile complimented our spotters, and thanked us warmly for the reports, and genuinely listened to us and interacted with us. we did good tonight
two starbucks espresso doubleshots, chased by a 32 ounce bottle of Vault. goooodstuff. kept me up until it's time to be down. which is now
took nap at michael's house
came back here
i'm calling virginia like i said I would
and then i'm crashing
it's weird. i have the familiar feeling of doing good stuff (storm spotting), combined with a sense of pride in what we're doing (NWS Mobile compliments!) plus the "OH SHIT" factor of knowing that I have to be at work in four hours.
*SNOOORE*
