Most Important Person

Who: Riku, Sora
Where: Hogsmeade, before the Quidditch match.
Warnings: Hooking up! Snogging, yo. The ultimate cute. Confessions.

Riku's head was leaned back awkwardly against the edge of the bed. He sat on the floor, legs crossed, nodding in and out of sleep. By this point he was leaning quite a bit in.

He had stayed up most of the night, just sitting there. It was almost as if he was waiting for something - for Sora to have a nightmare, like Riku had expected. For Sora to do anything... move, breathe, say something. But there was nothing. Just the occasional turn in his sleep. Other than that, the brunette had seemed pretty peaceful. He was glad for that.

So Riku tried to sleep. It wasn't that he was uncomfortable or anything (Riku had gotten used to falling asleep in awkward positions), but sleep just wouldn't hit him. It taunted him, leading him into an almost-perfect sleep - and then it was gone.

His closed eyes remained that way, even though somewhere in the back of his mind he knew he would probably have to get up soon. The front of his mind, however, ignored the back and proceeded to drift...

Sora opened his eyes slowly when the sunlight finally hit them. Light was one of the only things that could wake the young teen, and even though Sora couldn't figure out why, it did. He rose slowly and looked around the room tiredly. Where was Riku? It was when that he spotted the top of Riku's head right by the edge, bobbing up and down as if he were faling in and out of sleep. Sora slowly slid out of bed and then walked over by his frriend and joined him on the ground.

"You didn't sleep on the floor all night, did you?" He asked softly. Sora could tell Riku was awake because his eyes were open. Well, slightly open.

It took Riku a moment to reply. He reached up and rubbed his eyes for a moment. When he finally opened them, he was met with a light from the window, causing him to squint a bit. Riku had never really been one for getting up in the morning.

Unintentionally he leaned against his friend. He shook his head a bit at the question, mumbling out a low, "Nah, I didn't really sleep." But he didn't really care about that. "Did you sleep alright?"

Sora frowned slightly an wraped his arm around Riku's shoulder. No sleep, because of him? That made Sora feel bad but...At the same time he really enjoied how he had a peaceful nights rest for the first time since the beginning of the school year.

"I slept great." He said with a sigh. "I guess you'll have to sleep on the train ride, huh?" He asked with a small smirk.

Riku shook his head again, leaning in to rest his head against Sora's shoulder. He just sat there like that for a moment or so, eyes opening and closing multiple times in attempt to get used to the sunlight. When he did, the silver haired teen pushed himself off of the floor and stumbled onto his feet. He almost fell - almost, but caught himself.

Letting out a large lawn, Riku looked at Sora and gave a tired grin. In a somewhat less sleepy voice he said, "Glad to know you slept well. Don't worry about me, after a shower I'll be fine. What's one night, anyway?"

Sora held out his arms to catch his friend, but Riku caught himself at the last second. Sora slowly rose from the floor and then scratched the back of his head. He supposed one night couldn't hurt but...He couldn't have Riku spending the night with him every night. He had to remind himself that simply couldn't happen. Then Riku wouldn't get any sleep and he felt he'd be hogging it then.

"Right...One night can't hurt." Sora grinned a litte.

With one more yawn, Riku stretched a bit and forcefully shook off being tired to the best of his ability. This was going to be a good day. He was going to make this a good day. After pretty much planning out every little detail in his head, there was no way Riku was going to be tired.

He grinned back at Sora. "Right. So, about that desperately-needed shower." He remembered that he wasn't in his own dorm. A concerend look appeared on his face, but he replaced it with a rather neutral expression. "What're we going to do about that?"

Sora grinned a little at Riku's last comment. Not a normal Sora grin either. It was rather cunning and proud.

"I love being a prefects friend." Was all he said before he made a waving motion for Riku to follow him and then walked over to his drawers. He grabbed some new cloths for himself and a pair of Riku's he had 'borrowed' one time from him. He tossed the cloths to Riku and then pointed for the door.

"And away we go."

--

Riku looked around rather quietly. Thankfully everything had worked out, and he and Sora were both at Hogsmead without any issues. However, the teen couldn't bring himself to say anything. It wasn't that he was awkward, but he didn't know how to bring the subject up. Besides, he didn't really want to ruin Sora's mood, even though he knew he had things to say.

Others chattered around him. Most people seemed to be making many purchases. Riku wondered for a moment if he was strange for not buying anything. He glanced over at Sora. The silence was killing him.

"I wonder what Kairi's doing," he said absently.

Sora frowned slightly at the mention of his close friend's name. The two of them had yet to talk since that one day where...Sora's expression darkened and he looked down at his shoes.

"I heard she came here with Seamus today. I guess we'll just have to see her at the Quidditch game."

The quidditch game. What was that going to be like?! Definitely awkward. Sora wondered what would be worse: Being on Kairi's team or having to verse her. Sora sighed softly and looked up.

Er- Had Riku said something wrong?

He decided not to ask about it. If Sora wanted to talk, he'd talk - but obviously something was bothering him. He knew Sora knew he could talk to him about anything. Riku gazed at the floor.

"Finnigan? From Gryffindor?" He grew sour at the thought. His only memory of Seamus was in fourth year when the boy had "accidentally" run into him in the hall and spilled some sort of potion on him that took hours to get off. Riku had never actually found out what it was, but ever since then he'd been wary of the brunette's presence. Mostly he didn't think about it.

Sora nodded his head lazily and made his way over to a mini bridge. He leaned on the railing and then looked up at the sky. It looked like it was going to rain, the clouds were grey and the atmosphere seemed gloomy. The leaves were beginning to fall off the trees and the weather was starting to get chillier. Horray for fall.

"That's the one." He muttered with slight amusement in his voice. He wasn't sure how Kairi got over him so fast but...He had to wonder if he should be offended or not?

Riku joined Sora and a somewhat mixed expression came onto his face. Sora seemed upset about something. Riku wanted to get his mind off of it. He almost leaned against him - almost. For the most part he stayed silent. How to bring it up, how to...? It was nervewrecking.

Sora rubbed his hands together and then shoved them in his pockets. Their conversation seemed to have died and Sora wasn't sure how to re-start it. He let out a sigh and then took a good look around.

Sora spotted the shack and started to walk.

"Lets just get there early?"

Riku nearly paniced when Sora started heading over there. For some reason he didn't want to leave until he said what he wanted to say. Almost instinctively he reached out and grabbed Sora's arm, mentally begging him to stay.

"Wait, Sora... I want to talk to you before we go over there." That sounded good.

Sora stopped at the sudden touch and he turned around slowly so he could face Riku. Was this about that night...? Sora hoped not, he hoped that Riku didn't remember that one night since...Sora was almost positive Riku and heard him when he told Roxas that he...

"What's up?"

But of course it was about that night. And Riku had heard, very clearly, who it was Sora was referring to. It was just hard for him to bring it up.

Riku didn't let go of Sora's arm. Instead he took a step closer to Sora and gazed around in an unsure sort of way. He was trying to find the right words. Stop it, Riku, he warned himself, not wanting to get too nervous. You've done this a million times in your head.

"Look, that night-" No, that wasn't right! "What you said-..."

There was a pause.

"I heard you talking to Roxas."

Sora felt his whole body tense and tighten and he was pretty sure he might have stopped breathing.

There had been a night where Roxas had come to him telling him of a dream he had. Afterwhich, they began to discuss normal things like who they liked and...If Riku had heard them.

"You heard?" He asked weakly.

Deap down inside Sora had already known that, because Roxas and him had heard a noise and when Sora went to check out what it was he could have sword he saw Riku running away.

Running.

That meant...

That night, Riku had already been moderately freaked out by his dream, and had decided to go find Sora. He didn't really know what happened, but before he knew it he was standing there, eavesdropping in on a conversation between Sora and his brother. And Sora told him who his crush was.

It was a little overwhelming for Riku, really. He didn't know what to think at the moment, and that's why he ran.

But now... Now he knew exactly what to think.

"Yeah... I heard."

He took in a breath. He just needed to get this over with. The results couldn't be bad, right? Sora wouldn't hate him or anything. He knew Sora all too well.

"Sora, I need you to tell me. Face-to-face. Right here. ... Who is it that you like?"

Sora felt his face heat up and he made his hands into fists out of impulse by his sides. Why was Riku asking him this? If he heard him that night then why did he have to make Sora admit it in front of him? To disgrace him? To embarass him?! Sora's eyes trailed to the ground and he let off a soft sigh.

"You. I'm in love with you." He whispered almost inaudiobly.

Riku froze. He thought he'd heard something, but- no, Sora couldn't have said that. Not what Riku thought he had said. That was impossible. That was...

Riku was nearly trembling.

He thought he might have been dreaming again. He knew there was only one way to find out.

Without thinking much of anything he pulled Sora into an embrace, tightly wrapped his arms around him. He decided he wouldn't let go.

"Sora, I-" No. He would not lose his voice now. Riku exhaled. "I've wanted to hear that for so long. Tell me you're not lying."

Sora gasped slightly when he was pulled into Riku's arms. His eyes widened slightly when Riku spoke. He wanted to hear that? Lying? No. Never. Never about this. Sora timidly lifted his hands and unclenched his fists before gently laying them on his friend's back.

"I'm not lying, I love you." He whispered almost just as softly. He heard his voice crack slightly and he shut his eyes tightly. What if Riku was lying to him? What if he actually hated him and he was just going to toy with his heart before he embarassed and disgraced him in front of the whole school?

No.

Riku wasn't like that.

Riku buried himself into Sora's hair. This wasn't how it was planned out in his head. It was better. It was better than any dream he had before. It was so much better than anything he could imagine. Sora was in his arms, telling him he loved him. He couldn't help but smiling.

"I love you too," he said quickly. "I have for a long time. I can't believe you're honestly standing here, saying this. I just-..."

Riku wasn't good with words. He also knew he was probably being way too dramatic. But he couldn't help it. He was so damn happy that he couldn't even think of putting it in words.

"Sora, I love you so much."

Sora's lips parted and he felt his eyes water with hapiness. This had to be one of his whacked out dreams gone right for once. It had to be but it wasn't and knowing that made Sora feel estatic. Sora squeezed Riku gently before looking up at him with his soft blue gentle eyes.

"I love you too, Riku. I..." Sora trailed off as a smile broke out on his face. "I really do."

Riku let go of Sora. He let go because he wanted to look at Sora's blue eyes, and he did. For the first time, he didn't feel awkward at all.

"I didn't say anything when I overheard you and Roxas because... well, you said you liked me, and I was afraid that if I told you how I felt, you'd be freaked out," he admitted. "Because I really mean it, too. I don't like you. I love you. There's a big difference, and I-..."

For the first time in a long time, Riku thought he was talking too much. He reached up to cup Sora's cheek. Without giving it enough thought - or perhaps giving it too much thought? - he leaned in and pressed his lips against his friend's. Maybe he was doing crazy things, but he was feeling overwhelmed with happiness, and he definitely wasn't used to it.

Besides, he craved this.

"I know I--" Sora was cut off as Riku's surprisingly soft lips pressed onto his own. Sora felt his knees go weak slightly and his eyelids half lidded and then shut. A rush of emotions flooded over him and he grabbed onto the back of Riku's shirt with his hands. Words forgotton, Sora kissed his friend--No--his boyfriend back.

Sora was kissing back. Sora was kissing Riku back.

Riku thought he might pass out.

Luckily he didn't, and instead deepened the kiss, slipping his tongue into the brunette's mouth. Questions swarmed in his mind - Am I moving too fast? Am I doing the right thing? Is this reality? - but Riku found it easy to ignore them, as he was far to busy with other things. More important things - or, rather, the most important thing.

And that was Sora.

Sora moaned slightly as he felt Riku's tounge slip into his mouth. Timidly, Sora did the same. He figured it wasn't fair if Riku got to taste him and he not taste him back.

Riku tasted good. So good the world around Sora began to fade away as if he really were in one of his dreams. Sora mentally thanked God that he wasn't and he continued to kiss Riku as everything around him seemed to fade away until it was just them.

Just them, and no one to pull them apart. No one to take away this moment, this place, or this person.

His most important person.
