Sir Winston Churchill lived in a time when his satirical wisdom was in great need. "If you're going through hell... keep going." quoth he.
I think it's my new favorite quote. It's so... applicable, reasonable, short and sweet. So perfect.
Meanwhile, George Bush got a quote in the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations:
"States like these, and their terrorist allies, constitute an axis of evil, arming to threaten the peace of the world. By seeking weapons of mass destruction, these regimes pose a grave and growing danger. They could provide these arms to terrorists, giving them the means to match their hatred. They could attack our allies or attempt to blackmail the United States. In any of these cases, the price of indifference would be catastrophic."
Does he understand exactly what "peace" is? It's questionable.
But at least Clinton got a quote of Churchill-ish humor in the same book:
"The American people have spoken, but it's going to take a little time to determine what they said." --President Bill Clinton watching the chaos unfold in Florida in the 2000 election.
