WAITING IS THE HARDEST PART.

Honestly. Though I am a bit concerned over the quota that everyone apparently has... I just want to know.

Sigh.

In other news, hanging out with celty and K was super fun! We played some worms 3D, and then lots of scribblish, which was hilarious enough that sajex was convinced that she hadn't wasted her money.

As I go to open the box, she says 'you're sure I won't want to return this?'

Waita make me nervous! But the hilarity of the game translated well to a group of artists, so it worked out.

We had delicious spaghetti, and then played some werewolf. Only thing we didn't get to do was play Katamari (marii_chan left the disc at home), or her ridiculous dollar store UNO game. I think they just scanned in the UNO rules and let a text recognition software have at 'er for the printing... But that was a foolish idea! It was pretty hilarious.

I noticed how late it was getting, and since the last bus in FAILville goes past at about seven, we had to walk to the GO station to catch the last train. Caught it, got home, and went to SLEEP.

Yesterday, I was trying to draw for the first time in a while. I was working on an idea that I might eventually be able to sell as a print, if I knew anyone who got in at Anime North or something like that.

Today, more maya. And then over to marii_chan's for some Ojomajo Doremi, I think! My GOD 4kids ruined that. Holy cow!

It's a show where all the main characters are in grade three and girls, so I guess I can understand why they took out the drinking? But it's like... Adults. Majo Rika is a woman who's had her livelyhood and appearance stolen from her by a little girl, and now she sometimes needs the comfort of a good drunk to get through the day. (Technically, if Majo Rika didn't want to be called a witch and turned into a magical frog, she should have been *acting* or dressing like a witch, but she's not the smartest cookie around.) ANYWAY, in the 4kids version she's drinking a 'sleeping potion'.

Also, takoyaki is often involved in the series, because one of the characters comes from Osaka. Don't worry though, your children won't be confused by the idea of eating fried octopus balls! They're DELICIOUS COOKIES.

Don't they look like they're hot out of the oven? Choco-doodles just like your dad used to make! Mmmm. I mean, I understand about 'localising' a property, and it does make it more accessible to people. I would argue, however, that there is a point where you've localised it too much. Would you be able to find a point to mention takoyaki = delicious balls of octopus? Somewhere? You could educate as well as entertain!

The crummy thing about trying to learn out of a book and not in a class is that I can't ask WHY Maya is doing what it's doing right now. In the book and the end version of the file this darned thing works, why doesn't it work right when I do it??

I've got some IK hands that I've keyed in one position, then moved three frames over and keyed again. The book says to go back to the original keys, and move the IK controller back slightly and angle it down so that it eases in, and looks like it's squishing against the box, and looks better. But for SOME reason, when I do that, fr11 is where I've put it, fr 12 is *in* the box (moved past the end point) and then it's easing out of the box into the end position. Which is the opposite of what is supposed to happen!!

GARGH.

I'll close the file and try again.

OKAY NOW HOW DO I CONTROL THE FINGERS????? Seriously. I don't understand! I can change the values, but that doesn't seem like a great way to try to get anything organic. I *know* I can select them. I know I've done it! What do I need to do to be able to see the effing controllers??

In this rig, there don't actually seem to be visible controls. You click the value you want to change, then middle mouse click and drag and the values change. *deep breath*
