Herp stressing
Sooo, ya'll know I work at a pet store. Well, over the past month or so, we've been noticing quite a few little beetles in the store, mostly among the dog food/treat aisle. We recently worked out that they were coming from Purina Pro Plan food, either from the warehouse it was being stored in or from the manufacturer itself. Anywho, long story short, we pulled all the Pro Plan from the shelf, dumped it, vacuumed up all the little bugsies we could reach (hopefully before they infested the *rest* of the dog food bags) and are now having the store fumigated. So what? You may ask. What has this got to do with herps?
Well, while the store is being fumigated and for a recommended 24 hour period after that, none of the animals can stay in the store (we're gonna cover the fish systems, shut off the pumps while they're actually spraying, and pray to God that no poison gets in, since NO WAY do any of us have enough fish tanks to take all the fish home). So I'm hosting the entire reptile/amphibian section of the store, minus the two tarantulas (Tonya's got them) and the toads (not sure whether they're staying with the fish, since they're in that section, or some one else is gonna claim them). So I got home and rummaged, set up a bunch of tanks, did calculations like, "Well, Stick and Root can share for a few nights, they did it when I was trying to breed them earlier in the year, Ast and Eda can share too, that leaves a space for the store BPs in my rack, then the boas can go in Eda's tank Etc. etc. who can double up, how can I stretch my heat sources, etc. etc." telling myself, "It's just for a couple of days, as long as they've got heat and water it will be okay!" Just now finished up, and I've got space for everyone using only used/my own stuff, not grabbing anything new from the store. YES I am master of pet cramming!! WHOOT go me, go me!!!
ETA: Frack, I totally forgot the frikkin' corn snakes. Bugger! ....I think I can put them in that Critter Keeper from my bedroom, they don't need that much space...*sigh*
P.S.-Okay, secretly I am fulfilling my fantasies of owning my own AWESOME HERP SHOP, if only for a few brief 24-hour periods. I admit it, I pretend to be freaking out, but secretly I'm like "YES! I wanna keep them forever!! ....I wonder if Tonya would believe me if I told her they died mysteriously...." and other such improbable thoughts. NO I AM NOT ACTUALLY PLANNING ON DOING THIS, NO YELLING AT ME!
P.P.S.- Brii~~, I'm bringing the tegus~~~ ^___^ Actually Rob was like, "You have to take the tegus, you're the only one they like!" since everyone else is pretty much scared to touch them >.>
