What the Hell Am I Watching?
Limitless is a film released in 2011 starring Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro. As all the ads will have let you know, it's about a guy who comes across a super pill that makes him super smart. Then stuff happens, and don't do drugs kids!
Why the Hell Am I Watching This?
I am impressed by shiny things and things that have the potential to make me go, "Wow, those people are, like, super smart!" Plus, Robert DeNiro. Limitless is on Netflix now, so oulan and I gave it a shot.
Why the Hell Am I Still Watching This?
Okay, so, like I said, shiny things. In fact, this movie is so full of shiny things that are too smart for me to understand that originally I thought I was watching a good movie. I finished this film satisfied.
Yet some things bothered me. I found myself thinking about them long after the movie was over. Like, why didn't he use his super brain to, like, cure cancer or something? Why had NOBODY who had taken this drug cured cancer and AIDS and world hunger and the whole Israel thing? Why had nobody else who'd taken the drug realized they, too, could work on manufacturing more instead of getting it through that sketchy ex-coke dealer guy? Why in God's name did he drink the blood of that Russian mob guy in order to ingest some of the drug when he had run out and then get totally juiced after like four sips of disgusting floor blood?!?!
Also, I was kind of peeved about the fact that the trailers made it look like DeNiro was going to be the major antagonist/drug business mastermind of the film and he totally wasn't. Am I disappointed? A little.
But at the end of the day, the movie really was super shiny. And I like shiny things.
