hi ive actually been a member for a few months but havent been able to find anything to post about until now
i was reading a book called "Dont go their!" which is a great book actually about the destinations you should try to avoid well i was reading it one day in the "Human rights and corruption" chapter and i saw this in the Syria part
"Womans rights are also severly repressed in this muslim country Honor killings are still prevalent in this Syria with perhaps as many as 300 girls killed each year by close family members Males enjoy penal code provisions that reduce their sentences for killing a female member who is thought to have comitted adultury or to have had sexual relations(i actually FROZE when i read that previous sentence) In March of 2006 it was reported that a young female was forced to marry the man who had raped her The marrige was in accordince article 508 of the Penal code which absolved her husband of the crime"
i was horrified i mean its acutally partially LEGAL in that country
their government is fucked up big time
