Azhdarchids ( named after the Persian dragon Aži Dahāka ) were pterosaurs with long legs and extremely long necks. Most species of azhdarchids are known from these distinctive neck bones and not much else. ( Read more... )

Yep, you heard me right. "Mushrooms" as we think of them are just the fruiting body of the main fungus, which is almost entirely underground. Multiple fruiting bodies can pop up from one individual fungus, so it's extremely hard to tell how large some mushrooms are until... well, they start to kill a forest.

Thousands of spiders formed a massive spiderweb in Texas, over 200 yards wide engulfing an entire oak tree and surrounding ones.
