Weird Black round bugs?

I saw this picture and it made me go WTF!!
I know this is a dead frog...what i don't know are the round black things that are on it.
Can anyone explain, I'm from california I've never seen...any type of carnivorous insect like the one that SEEMS to be eating the frog.

Sorry if its something common and I'm just dumb. =/

yeah thats what i thought too sorta!
but then i tried looking it up and nothing and also the shell doesnt look like...shellish it looks soft.
Then again I'm not snail specialist lol.
i hope you're right...but then I don't cause carnivorous baby snails scares =x.

Yeah my baby apple snails looked like that except they were light in colour. They'll chow down on betta food in they're in the right spot when i drop pellets in so i think certain snails are partial to meaty stuff.

Thank the Goddess! Here I thought I was the only one. None of my friends seemed to believe me when I told them my apple snails would eat my fish. If a fish died overnight, all I'd find were it's spine and head by morning and I'd see all my snails on the remains!
