Salsa and 7-layer mexican dip

Mar 24, 2009 21:02

I am having a major salsa kick at the moment. I think being round at my AmHist tutor's at the weekend has sparked this. That and the weather (up until right now that is, as it is currently hailing).
We went up to Perth this weekend to my tutor Peggy's house. She is Haitian-American, and had promised us soul food and a lot of booze. She made good on that one. I can now safely say I like cheese grits, hot wings and greens. How Southern can it get? She made so much food it was unbelievable, including a 7-layer mexican dip that was like crack it tasted so good. Then the passion fruit and lychee liquor was broken out and it all descended into a bit of chaos. Her baby son came to say hi half way through, and he was a cutie. I feel more Haitians and Scots should get it on because their offspring are just adorable. She taught us to salsa and marangue properly, which was great fun. She also told us about her life at our age and how her and her friends would hassle the crack whores in Miami for funsies. And she can spit fire. One heck of a woman that one...
Didn't end up getting home till like ten. I have to say, I wish all my tutors were this willing to make me food and give me their alcohol.

In other news, I am done with coursework!!!!!!!!
Annnnnnnnndddd Glasgow tomorrow with Heidi! Very exciting. Though she should get her ass on facebook so I can check up on arrangements! (HINT).

xx
