I haven’t moved from the spot where you left me. I’m sure it has to do with the fact that I’m dying. What else could make me feel so hot and so cold all at once? So empty, yet so full of life? I want to run after you, I want to beg you not to leave me like everyone else. My father, then my mother, then my brother-they all left me. Countless others that got too close to use left as well. They always go to where I can’t follow. They all leave me alone.
I feel your presence in front of me before I open my eyes to see you. Relief, love and need all flood my brain, but most pressing is my need to be closer to you. I need to touch as much of you as I can to reassure myself that you are real. I need to hold you closer so you can’t go anywhere, and you always allow it since you cling to me with equal force.
As long as you continue to give me this, this false sense of hope, I’ll continue giving you what you need. I promise, as long as you stay with me, I won’t cry when you call me Edward as we make love.
