A/N: this is an extra scene spun off from the last chapter of my mutant power series. I thought some readers might be interested to know how Kibum, Kyuhyun and Changmin's secret mission went.

Happy belated birthday, Changmin!

“We must be crazy to be doing this.” Kibum whispers as the trio find themselves standing outside a familiar looking building.

“Yeah. Whose idea was it?” Changmin mutters, wondering why he had to come along. His only purpose is to bring them here and back. Kind of like a taxi service, really. Come to think of it, he ought to start charging them a nominal fee.

His mental ramblings are cut short by Kyuhyun waving a hand in front of his eyes. “Okay, it was my idea, but you guys volunteered to come along! And the Director agreed that it was a good move to make.”

“I bet Jungsu hyung doesn’t think so.” Kibum folds his arms. “It’s practically sending three baby lambs off to the wolf’s lair, just asking to be eaten, or worse - caught, tortured and experimented on.”

“Aren’t lambs by definition baby sheep?” Changmin asks, just to be contrary. “Calling them ‘baby lambs’ seems redundant.” Kibum and Kyuhyun stare at him and he rolls his eyes. “Alright, alright. Let’s just get this over and done with before we get discovered.”

Kyuhyun raises his hands and turns the security cameras away from their intended path. They hold hands and Changmin teleports them into the grounds on the other side of the electric fence. They make a quick run to the side of the building where they won’t be seen, before referring to the map they stole the last time they were here. “We’re going to the security room first, right?”

Kyuhyun nods. “Better disable their security before they catch on to our presence.”

Changmin frowns. “But they’ll have guards posted there. And we don’t have Youngwoon hyung this time to knock them out.” He looks at the three of them. “Okay, this is stupid. We don’t have anyone with offensive powers here. What were we thinking?”

The other two realise that he’s right. “I think we were thinking of not having to fight anyone, or let them know we were ever here.” Kyuhyun muses doubtfully. “And the Director said he needed the others at home today.”

“I can be offensive.” Kibum states after thinking for a moment. Changmin raises his brows in interest. “I can leave them stuck in the wall. Or stick my hand through their bodies and pull out…stuff.” All three of them grimace at the gruesome thought.

“I suppose that’s the best we’ve got. Let’s aim for stealth and only resort to removing people’s organs if all else fails and it’s a life or death situation.” Kyuhyun decides, and with a deep breath, Changmin teleports them into the security room.

To their surprise, they find only one guard sitting in the large security room having an early lunch. He clearly isn’t paying attention to the security cameras, and doesn’t seem to have heard their entrance. Kibum silently makes his way behind the guard and slips his gun out through the strap around his waist. He then hits the guard hard at the back of the neck with the gun, and the guard slumps down from his chair.

Changmin helps him drag the body aside as Kyuhyun quickly works on turning the security cameras off. “Guys, this is weird.” The two of them look up to see Kyuhyun frowning at the screens. “Most of the research rooms are empty, and most of the scientists seem to be in the lab.”

“Isn’t that good for us?” Kibum replies, not particularly interested in questioning their unbelievable luck thus far. “We should go there and get whatever information we can from the computers.”

“Maybe this is the time in which they do their experiments.” Changmin suggests. “Or perhaps they’ve made a new discovery and decided to work further on it.” The second explanation doesn’t bode well for them, and after giving the guard another hard hit on the head for good measure, they teleport to the research rooms.

Kyuhyun starts methodically turning on the computers with a touch of his hand and inserting a thumbdrive into each one to download any information he can get. Changmin pauses to marvel at how the technopath easily overrides all the passwords required to access the data.

Kibum looks at the map again, and realises that the laboratory where the scientists are shares a wall with the computer room the three of them are in. “Changmin-ah, I’m just going to see if I can hear what they’re doing next door.”

Before the younger boy can caution him - what if he gets seen? - Kibum braces himself on the wall and lets his head pass through slowly. Thankfully, his head is hidden from view by a cluttered table and he strains to hear what the men in white coats are saying.

“-and I think it’s too risky. Who knows what might happen if we try to put another ability into him?”

“You thought we wouldn’t even be able to do it once, but we managed to put two abilities into him!”

“Yes, but they won’t last. Unless we manage to find a vector that will successfully transfer it to his genome and reproduce it, he won’t be able to use these abilities for long.”

“And God knows that man won’t rest until he gets every power imaginable transferred to himself permanently.” They shudder collectively at the thought. Kibum feels a tap on his shoulder and reluctantly phases back through the wall to the computer room.

“We’d better go before they find us here.” Changmin says. “Are you done?” He turns to look at Kyuhyun, who is quickly scanning through the data on the last computer.

“Just a few seconds…and done.” Kyuhyun pulls out the last thumbdrive, stuffing them all into his pockets.

“Are we going home now?” Kibum asks, eliciting a surprised look from Changmin, who clearly has that intention. “As in, maybe we should go somewhere and consolidate what we’ve found out before going back home to report to the Director. Then if we find we need to know something more, we can return here.”

Kyuhyun shrugs. “I could use an ice-cream after all this hard work.”

Changmin complies and teleports them to a nearby ice-cream parlour, where they sit at a table with their respective desserts and discuss what they’ve found out.

After deciding that they’ve got a good amount of information, they proceed to leave the ice-cream parlour. “You know, isn’t it kind of weird that the Director only asked the three of us to go on this mission?” Changmin points out as an afterthought. “It doesn’t make sense to send the three youngest without any offensive powers.”

“Well, he did say he needed the hyungs at home today.” Kyuhyun reminds them, before frowning as a thought occurs to him. “I wonder what he needs them for that he apparently doesn’t need us for. It’s almost as if he didn’t want us in the house today.”

“I think you’re over thinking things.” Kibum replies, even though he usually supports Kyuhyun’s theories. “Let’s be positive here: we went on a dangerous secret mission and succeeded! Isn’t that more important?”

“Ooh, imagine the looks on their faces when we tell them what we’ve been up to.” Changmin grins wickedly.

Kibum sighs in relief. “Right, so let’s just go home now, okay? I’m kind of tired after all that excitement.”

“I still wonder what they were doing today while we weren’t there, though.” Kyuhyun persists.

“They probably just helped the Director with some errands.” Kibum shrugs nonchalantly. “Whatever it is, it can’t be as interesting as what we just experienced.”

“We’ll see.” And with that final statement, Changmin teleports them home.

A/N: I meant to have this out by Changmin's birthday, but was foiled by slow writing and a lack of Internet access. Hope you all liked this 'deleted scene'!

Please comment with your thoughts and feelings! All comments are appreciated! Also, if anyone has any plot ideas for a sequel to this series, please please comment to tell me, because I'm suffering from writer's block right now!
