Chapter 11
“Siwon, you’re in.” His head snapped up to stare at his coach.
“Yes, sir.” He noticed that Hankyung wasn’t playing, taking a break from the game, and felt a little relieved that he wouldn’t have to attempt playing against him.
As he went onto the court, he could somehow feel Hankyung’s gaze on him, and nearly missed the ball that was thrown to him by one of his teammates. He went into autopilot mode, as his body, conditioned by years of practice, knew exactly what to do when playing the game. And yet he was sure that he wasn’t enjoying it half as much as Hankyung had.
Meanwhile, Hankyung was alternating between watching his team’s movements and Siwon’s. There was no doubt that the boy was a good player, his powerful legs bringing him around the court faster than some of the others. He privately wondered what the prim and proper Siwon’s reaction would be if he told him that he had a nice ass, and grinned.

After interviewing Yesung, Sungmin was allowed a reprieve from hosting the show, and he sank gratefully into a comfy chair next to Yesung, who eyed him in amusement.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone so…sickeningly cute before.”
Sungmin shot him a dirty look, and Yesung shrugged. “Whatever. I’m too tired from interviewing to argue with you. What with the basketball competition and random students and…oh yeah!”
Yesung raised a brow as Sungmin sat up straight, having remembered something. “Did you know that the second flower boy victim is here today as well?”
The rock singer frowned as he tried to recall who that was. “That basketball player?”
Sungmin nodded excitedly. “Right! I think his name’s Hankyung, and his school team’s playing in the finals against Paran High. What a coincidence!”
Then Yesung’s manager came in. “Yesung-ah, there’s a student called Kim Kibum who wants to see you. Do you know him?”
Do I ever, Yesung thought, and nodded. Maybe it wasn’t such a coincidence as Sungmin thought, considering how the ‘terrorist’ was from this school.
Kibum came in with Kyuhyun in tow. “Good to see you, hyung. It’s great that you’re performing at our school festival.”
“Glad to do so.” Yesung smiled. After all, he did kind of owe his present fame to Kibum.
“Anyway, this guy here-” He pushed Kyuhyun forward, “-is a fan of yours-”
“I’m not a fan! I mean-”
Kibum ignored the younger boy’s interruption. “-and would like your autograph.” Sungmin looked at the lanky freshman in interest. He was rather cute, in a nerdy sort of way.
“No problem.” Yesung fished around his bag for a photo to sign, when Kyuhyun presented Yesung’s CD to him, his hands shaking slightly. Yesung smiled and took the CD.
“What’s your name?”
“Cho Kyuhyun.”
Yesung opened the cover and wrote a message to him, signing it with a flourish. “Here you go. It’s always nice to meet people who listen to my music.”
Sungmin flashed his most brilliant smile. “Would you like my autograph as well?”
Kyuhyun went slightly pink, and looked like he was trying to think of an appropriate response, before admitting, “Um, I’m afraid I don’t know who you are.”
Yesung burst out laughing at the offended look on Sungmin’s pretty face.

“There you are, Teukie.” Kangin grinned as he saw the familiar Panda-suit in the gym. “I’ve been wondering where you were.”
Eeteuk nodded slowly, and for a moment, his silence worried Kangin. “Did you get hurt from the fight just now? I’d better get the first-aid kit!”
“No, it’s okay, really-” But Kangin had already strode across the room to the cupboard where the first-aid kit was and yanked it out roughly, running back to Eeteuk, who was frantically shaking the furry arms.
“Look, that guy chucked a basketball at you from less than two feet away, and you fell down later and now you’re even clutching your stomach in pain!”
Eeteuk quickly removed the paw from the region of his abdomen, but to no avail. Then Kangin realised that the boy would have to remove the suit in order to be checked for injury, and bit his lip. “If you really want to, you can keep the head on and just take off the body.”
The other boy’s shoulders slumped in resignation, and he proceeded to take off the body-suit, revealing a lean body bordering on thinness, wearing a t-shirt and shorts that showed his pale skin. Kangin swallowed uncomfortably, wishing he didn’t feel so excited at seeing his friend’s body, and feeling like an utter cad.
“Lift up your shirt and let me have a look.” He managed to say in as firm a voice as possible, and Eeteuk complied. Kangin noticed the slim and delicate hands that slowly pulled the hem of the t-shirt up, and shook his head in frustration at himself.
As he’d guessed, there was an ugly bruise over the slightly muscled stomach, and he winced at the thought of Eeteuk being in pain. “Damn those idiots.” He pulled out one of the medicated oils from the kit and poured a little on his hand before rubbing the injured area. Eeteuk’s body stiffened, and assuming that he’d used too much pressure, Kangin apologised and did it more gently.
“I don’t want to blame you, but if you hadn’t been wearing that suit, those boys mightn’t have been so violent towards you, or mocked you as much.” Kangin hated saying it, but it was true, and he was nothing if not honest.
“I know I’ve asked this before, and you haven’t explained it to me yet, but why do you wear this suit every day?”
Eeteuk was silent for a moment. “Would you be sorry if I left?”
Kangin was confused and a little annoyed by his abrupt change of topic, but decided to go along with it. “Definitely. I…I don’t think I’ve ever met someone who’s impacted my life so much before. I’d probably do my best to convince you to stay.” He chuckled weakly.
“Then, what if I tell you that if I show myself to everyone, I’d have to leave the school?”
Kangin couldn’t at all fathom how this could be possible, and guessed it was just another one of those dilemma questions that Eeteuk enjoyed. “Well, then I’d be content with never seeing your face until we graduate. I think I could bear with not seeing you for the rest of that time rather than lose you.”
Eeteuk took hold of Kangin’s wrist, stilling his hand movements, and sighed. “That really means a lot to me, Kangin-ah. Thank you.”

There were two minutes left to the end of the game, and both Hankyung and Siwon were playing on the court. Ryeowook stood up in the stands, fisting the edges of his school uniform as he trained his eyes on Siwon’s every move.
“Are we winning?” He jerked slightly, turning around to see Kibum and Kyuhyun.
“I think they’re in the lead by a point or two. The Geosang team’s just trying to prevent us from gaining possession until the end of the game, so as to maintain the win.”
Then there was a roar of excitement, and Ryeowook scanned the court, only to gasp with delight. Siwon had managed to steal the ball away from a Geosang player, and was now dribbling as fast as he could to the other side where their hoop was. “Go, Siwon, go…” Ryeowook chanted, and even Kibum found himself rooting for Siwon to save the day.
One of the Geosang defensive players made a beeline for Siwon and attempted to hit the ball out of his hand, and to their shock, he collided into Siwon, knocking him to the ground. “FOUL!” The outraged audience cried out, and the referee immediately entered the court and called a foul.
Siwon gasped for breath as he tried to sit up, hearing his teammates yelling angrily around them as the Geosang coach tried to argue with the referee. “Are you okay?” He looked up to see Hankyung’s face etched with concern, a hand extended out to pull him up. He took hold of it gratefully and was pulled to his feet.
The Geosang coach was still trying to reason with the referee, and even Siwon could see that the irritated referee was about to call a technical foul, when Hankyung touched his coach’s arm. “Coach, it was clearly a foul. Just let it go.”
The coach looked rather taken aback, as Hankyung nodded firmly and turned to the player in question, whom Siwon then recognised as the one who’d been causing trouble with Kangin and the panda boy earlier on. “This won’t happen again.” His voice was laced with disapproval, and the player nodded quickly.
Siwon was given the ball to pass inbounds, resulting in his teammate scoring a three pointer that put them in the lead, and the game ended only seconds later. All the Neul Paran High students rose to their feet and cheered, while Hankyung’s fans clapped along politely, though looking rather upset that his team hadn’t won.
Ryeowook was beside himself with joy, whooping along with the rest of the crowd while Kibum and Kyuhyun were both grinning in elation. “Come on, let’s get down there to congratulate him!”
“And to ask him about the terrorist,” Kyuhyun reminded him, and Ryeowook rolled his eyes good-naturedly.
The two team captains shook hands, congratulating each other on the good game. Hankyung’s eyes met Siwon’s, and he walked over to him. “You played well.”
“Thanks, so did you.” Siwon had an unsettling feeling that he ought to be happier about winning, and yet he wasn’t.
“Do you have an answer yet?”
Siwon chuckled. “You know, our school is having a festival with plenty of performances, food and games. Come by later after this and I’ll tell you.”
Hankyung’s coach was calling him to go to receive the trophy, and Hankyung nodded, running off in the same direction as Siwon’s captain. After handing the runner-up trophy and certificate to his school teacher, he returned to the stands where Liyin was standing with a regretful look on her face.
“I’m sorry you didn’t win. But you played an amazing game, and I recorded it all down!”
Hankyung took the proffered video-camera and sighed. “Thanks.”
Junsu understood that at least, and patted his shoulder. Then he looked at his watch and blinked. “Hey, it’s almost time for Hyukkie’s dance performance, shall we go watch it?”
Liyin nodded cheerily and turned to Hankyung, who looked interested. “What kind of dance is this?”
Junsu frowned slightly in thought. “It should be hip-hop dancing. At least, that used to be his favourite type, with all the popping and locking.” He attempted to demonstrate, and Liyin tried not to giggle at how silly he looked.
Hankyung grinned. “Sure.”
A/N: I promise there'll be more about Eunhae in the next chapter! also, I know next to nothing about basketball, so please forgive any stupid errors I may have made about the game! as always, comments are LOVED.
