ME= A RENAISSANCE POTTER?

May 23, 2007 06:59

Well, this "summer" has been flying by, as to be expected. I was officially done with my second semester at LCC on May 10th, and have been enjoying my time since then. True, I scraped by by the skin of my teeth, so to speak, but I did it. I completed all of my classes, managed not to fail any, and still managed to keep my scholarship in tact. This summer semester will be fun though. I am taking American Sign Language and Introduction to Education. Also, I put in my 2 weeks at the cafe and Dan and I went Up North to visit my dad and my step-mom and to get the funds so I can get a car. This week I plan on taking the road test once again and then I have to get all the car stuff (license, insurance, car itself, etc) situated by June 6th because that is when I have to go back to LCC to work and for class at 7am. Work there shouldn't be too bad, I would think. Granted, I have to work at 7am, but I'll be done and ready for class by 11am and then have class noon till 3, so it won't be that bad. Plus, I'll have the rest of my day that way.

The highlight of this break is...I MIGHT BE A POTTER/ENTERTAINER FOR A VIKING RE-ENACTMENT AT RENAISSANCE FESTIVALS THIS SUMMER AND BEYOND!

Dan has recently joined a Viking Re-enactment Troupe with his friend and blacksmith, John, and together, they make knives (Were all of those commas necessary? Probably not). Anyways, I am going down to the May Faire with Dan next weekend and talking to whoever is in charge of this Viking thing. Apparently the group has been looking for a potter for a while and I might just fit. They would have a brick kiln for me to use and are going to make me an authentic kick wheel. I just have to demonstrate that I can do what they are looking for, which is pretty basic, I would assume. The only hard part I am anticipating is making all of the dyes and glazes. I plan to start practicing here as soon as I get this whole car thing situated, then I will know how much in funds I have to allocate to my pottery. This would make me a second income anyways. That way, I could still go to LCC, as well as work there (making omelets for this summer semester) then I can do the renaissance thing on the weekends.

Well, those appear to be the only updates I have as of yet. I am glad all of you had fun at prom! Post more pics soon, if you can. I would love to see them!
