This is beautiful. I, I had to reread it three times. Picking my favorite part would be .... almost impossible. Call me crazy (since we've only commented on each other's comments and this is possibly an overshare), but I appreciated this one in the way that I did because of how well I can relate to it. You see, lately I've been using my own Sparrabeth fic to cope with my cold feet (I'm engaged, and about to be married, very soon). I'm my own Lizzeh-muse, and my Jack-muse is an ex-flame who came back into my life at exactly the wrong moment (and I am currently behaving myself), and my soon-to-be? I never thought he'd end up in the Will role (but who ever expects that?), never thought he'd end up resenting me because I never wanted as a child, or because I'm impulsive and free-spirited. Still, these things happen ... The feeling of suffocation, of debt and debt and debt until one day a nail will finally slide into his coffin, is enough to choke his affection and render him blandly amiable at best. Yes, yes, yes ( ... )

Wow. I loved the first line. And the last line. And most of the lines in the middle.

But what I really loved was how you respected the Willabeth relationship. Too often in Sparrabeth it just gets shifted to the side, or belittled, or the author turns Will into an OOC wife beater or something. (Read a fic like that once. Wasn't pretty.:P)

And I also have to say how much I love all of your icons. May I ask who the woman on them is?

Oh, thank you for the lovely comment! I'm really glad you enjoyed my work.

I totally agreed that Willabeth can get battered in our Sparrabeth world, and I really do feel it is a shame. The dynamic between the three of them is what really propels the films.

Oh, and the lady in my icons is Bollywood film star Aishwarya Rai. She's really fabulous, and she is my inspiration for my OC character Saraswati (Jack's sister) in the Sailing in Samsara series. Hence all the icons. So glad you like them. Check out Aish at www.aishwarya-forever.com.

Bollywood = love. :)

Makes me think of ol' Cecil B. DeMille's directing style. I miss him so. (I wasn't alive when he was big, but that hardly matters.)

Awesome as always. I like the way you show Elizabeth's feelings for both Jack and Will. Love the poignant description of the Turners' marriage--it's kind of heartbreaking AND telling that she dreams of Jack even though she's chosen Will. Anyway, love this story, love you, can't wait to read the next installment of Sailing in Samsara. :) Hope you're not dissatisfied with it anymore. BTW I've meant to ask you for a long time...Will you open the doors to intheeye.typepad.com for me?

Take care, love. :)

What was the word ‘love’, after all, but a sail without wind?

Astonishing. Extraordinary. Bitter and sweet and tender and terrible and heartbreaking and honeyed and harrowing.

Brilliant.

As usual.

I wonder if you would give me leave to quote this piece in my blog? -The section beginning, "Do you select..." and ending, "or the challenge?" is the most succinct and beautiful description I've ever seen of the choice every person faces in his/her choice of lovers, whether simultaneously or as we pass through life.

I would, of course, credit you fully.

And one more thing- you made a comment about "my people" in one of your other posts- are you from Tamil-Nadu? My folks are from Kollam, in Kerala, and I lived there for a year a while back, though I was born and raised here.

Feel free to quote absolutely anything you like, love. :) I am flattered and tickled perfectly pink that you found it worthy.

"And one more thing- you made a comment about "my people" in one of your other posts- are you from Tamil-Nadu?"
--- No, ma'am. My dad is from Jaffna, Sri Lanka - and is ehtnically a Sri Lankan Tamil, and a Tamil speaker. :) I jus thought Prabhu Deva is hilarious and sort of claimed him as my own, being the language is the same. Only in Kollywood can you get his brand of silliness. My mom, on the other hand, is Hungarian (and half gypsy, really).

"My folks are from Kollam, in Kerala, and I lived there for a year a while back, though I was born and raised here."
--- I here Kerala is a gorgeous area, and am dying to visit - set a bit of my fic and Jack's backstory in Cochin. Living there must have been really lovely. :) Do you speak Malayalam? If so, many apologies for my botched translations, which ar straight from the internet.

*hugs*

I added back the memory button. Does that help?

Sorry, not super tech-savvy. :) Let me know and I'll fumble with it some more if need be.
