Approx ~1400 words of g-rated Renga meeting Soriku in a sk8/kh crossover no one really asked for but that demanded to be written.
“Glad you’re here!” Sora exclaimed, hiding his blush in Riku’s neck. He really was glad his boyfriend was here, but Riku also appeared right as Sora bailed trying to pull off a trick on his skateboard.
It was embarrassing!
He heard Riku chuckle, strong arms wrapping around Sora in a tight hug. “Studying hard?”
Sora laughed. “Always! I’m just… uh… taking a break! Good for the brain!”
“Not if you fall and break it.”
Sora laughed, pulling away. “Nah… you know me! I’ll always get back up again, right?”
Riku nodded, reaching up to ruffle Sora’s hair fondly. “Right.”
Sora’s laughter grew and he ducked out of Riku’s reach. “How was Aqua and the rest? Axel hasn’t blown anything else up yet right? Training field still intact?”
“A few scorch marks, but nothing terrible,” Riku said as they walked over to pick up Sora’s skateboard. “Aqua lent me a few more books to read while I was here though. Says I shouldn’t grow too complacent while on a break.”
“Ahh, I think Aqua needs a break of her own.” Sora reached down to pick up his board once more. “Maybe she and Ven can come out here and try skateboarding! Terra too!”
Riku laughed and Sora admired the sound. “Don’t you think Terra might be a little top heavy for a skateboard?”
“No way!” Sora grinned, hugging his board to his chest. “I’ve met a few new friends while you were gone! Skateboarding friends. And one of them is like… bigger than Terra! And he skateboards just fine! C’mon, I bet you can learn too. It’ll be fun!!”
Riku laughed in response, no doubt remembering the last time he had been on a skateboard and the bruises on his ass and hands that followed. “No thanks, I’ll keep my feet firmly planted on the ground.”
“You’re no fun!” Sora stuck his tongue out, then threw his board to the ground before jumping on. “At least let me show you a few tricks!”
Riku grinned, crossing his arms as Sora skated towards the ramp, easily gaining enough air to completely turn around and land on the ramp again. With a grin, Sora turned back to riku, finding his friend staring at him fondly, like always.
It always made Sora feel so warm inside.
“Not bad, Sora!”
Sora glanced behind Riku where he saw his new friends skating over. “Hey guys!”
Riku turned around as well, raising a hand in greeting.
Sora skated past Riku to greet his friends. “Hi, Reki! Langa! No Cherry or Joe today? And where’s Miya and Shadow?”
“Shadow?” He heard Riku mutter behind him, but Sora tried to wave off his questions until later.
“Joe dragged Cherry along to do some ‘cuisine’ sightseeing,” Reki explained, crossing his arms behind his head, the breeze ruffling his red hair. “And Miya saw some kind of virtual gaming arcade he wanted to try out. Shadow went along to supervise. We’ll meet up with them there later.”
“Virtual gaming?” Sora’s eyes widened. “Count us in! Riku’s sure to be great at that!”
Reki’s grin matched his own, then his gaze shifted over to Riku. “So you’re the mysterious Riku, huh? Sora’s told us all about you…”
“Oh did he now?” Riku raised an eyebrow in Sora’s direction.
“All good things!” Sora exclaimed with a nervous chuckle. “Mostly…”
“He may have mentioned the incident with the skateboard and- uh… Langa? What are you doing?”
“Nothing.”
Sora blinked and turned to where Langa had skated closer to Riku, his stance on his board kinda awkward and…
Sora looked down, finding Langa standing on his tiptoes. Between that and the board’s height, he appeared to be just slightly taller than Riku, though the stance couldn’t have been comfortable. Or stable.
Sure enough, Langa only managed it for a second more before the board slipped out from underneath him and he fell. It was only thanks to Riku’s quick reflexes that Langa didn’t completely wipe out on the pavement.
“I thought we agreed buddy,” Reki started, easily stopping Langa’s skateboard before it went out into the street. “Skating works better with both feet planted firmly on the board. Without taping them.”
Langa hummed in dissatisfaction before brushing off Riku’s hold on his elbow. “I know that.”
His expression soured more when Reki laughed at him, but then brightened considerably when Reki kissed his cheek.
“No need to be jealous, snowflake. There’s only one tall teal-eyed man I love and that’s you.” Reki pressed his forehead to Langa’s before skating off. “Now c’mon. I wanna show Sora how to do a real rail slide.”
“Hey! I can do a real rail slide!” Sora protested, skating off after him.
“You do it weird!” Reki shouted back.
“I do not!”
Nonetheless, he did follow Reki’s instructions and demonstrations to better balance and slide on the pipes in the skate park. Occasionally Langa would join them, laughing with Reki and high-fiving Sora when he nailed a particularly tricky move.
But more often Sora would look over and find Riku and Langa conversing quietly, occasionally looking over to where Reki and Sora were having fun. At one point, Langa skated away to join Reki at the top of the ramp, and Sora skated over to Riku instead, using his height to easily reach Riku’s lips and gave him a chaste kiss. “What are you guys talking about?”
“Nothing,” Riku evaded, a blush rising to his face.
“Riku…” Sora grumbled, knowing when his boyfriend was keeping something to himself.
“It’s really nothing important,” Riku stressed, the blush only growing redder. “He just… ah… wondered how long I pined for you before confessing.”
Sora blinked in surprise, then burst into laughter. “Did you tell him that I confessed to you?”
“Yeah,” Riku chuckled as well, slowling getting over his embarrassment. “Though I did tell him that I had to settle for pining because you were too dense to realize that I had feelings for you.”
“Hey! I wasn’t dense!” Sora pouted. “I just… didn’t know that guys could do that… you know? Fall in love with each other, and then I wasn’t even sure if that’s what you were feeling, or if you were just really… friendly.”
“I am friendly,” Riku teased, wrapping his arms around Sora and pulling him off his board. “Look at how friendly I am!”
“Riku!” Sora laughed, wrapping his arms around Riku’s shoulders as Riku supported his weight. “You’re a coconut!”
“But I’m your coconut!”
“Yeah…” Sora hummed, leaning in again to kiss Riku. He could never tire of that and he berated his younger self for not figuring out how he felt sooner. Kissing was amazing.
“Hey! No canoodling at the skatepark!” Reki protested, but his complaints quickly quieted when Langa wrapped his arms around his waist and buried his face in Reki’s neck.
“Why not?” Langa asked. “I say we do away with that rule. I wanna kiss you all the time.”
Reki groaned quietly. “Yeah and that’s why we have the rule. Cause otherwise we’d never skate.”
“Hmm…” Langa didn’t sound too convinced.
Sora laughed, patting Riku’s shoulder till Riku lowered him to the ground again. “We’ll stop. I wanna see how Langa does that snowboarding trick anyway.”
He turned back to Riku with a grin. “You sure you don ‘t want to try?”
“Yeah!” Reki grinned, crossing his arms behind his head again. “It’s fun. Especially when the others are here as well.”
“It’ll be fun to skate with you while your here!” Sora grinned. “It’s the best thing for a study break… or just… a non keyblade break.”
He lowered his voice at the word keyblade. That was the whole point of these next few years. To have a break from saving the worlds and just go to college like a normal boy and his supportive boyfriend.
And skating was becoming a huge part of that. Especially with his new friends. He’d love for Riku to be a part of that life as well.
Riku grinned, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “I’m not good at it like you are.”
“It’s not about being good,” Langa said, dismounting his board and offering it to Riku to try. “It’s about having fun. Right, Reki?”
Reki grinned and nodded. “Yeah! Skating is fun! It’s infinite!”
Reki and Langa shared a smile with each other over a moment only they really knew about.
Sora turned back to Riku, holding out his hand. “I always want to share new things with you. So, you wanna try?”
Riku grinned and took his hand, taking a tentative step onto Langa’s board. “Of course. With you I’ll try anything.”
