Yesterday afternoon I kindasorta played hookey from work. I could've stayed, I wasn't really THAT sick, but I just didn't want to. So, after a few hours of surfing for good news & writing & drinking a ton of orange juice & eating too many lunches I watched Nine. It was a little unfocused at times, but I'd definitely recommend it. I love the way it portrays the creative process in all its seductive, crazy and destructive glory. When I'm sitting quietly, appearing to be doing absolutely nothing, something like this is usually going on behind my blank stare.
I dig Penelope Cruz
& she didn't disappoint in this one. I'm not particularly fond of Fergie but her musical number may have changed my mind. It's one of my favorite scenes in the movie & of all movies now. I love that she's not rail thin & yet still rocks the garter belt & stockings, plus she can sing & dance a bit too. They very well could have gone in a different direction with that scene, but it worked so well for me I went back to it after I'd finished the whole movie.
Kate Hudson's number was fun too, all flashy silver fringe & pretty boys dancing in suits. :)
I loved the last few scenes of the movie too -- and those are part of what made me search for reviews, I just knew something was missing. So, of course, I went to AfterElton.com & found the missing piece. Now I want to see this one on stage, without the Chicago-esque editing.
And while I was on AE I saw
the cutest pic of Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka & their twins. I don't have time to do anything but post the link, but anyone who needs an "awwwwwwwww" moment should definitely click.
