'Tis the season for all artsy communities in Portland to have their Street Faires! Today was the Mississippi Street Faire & it was hot (veryveryvery hot!) but fun.
I got there by Noon for the
NoPo Big Band's performance & was so glad I made it! This group is amazing - it even made me consider dressing up & trying to find a dance partner (which is pretty bizzare for me, to consider putting on a dress & heels to go dancing?!). There's a vid past that link, & it's a cute one. I got a kick out of watching the Director - he was enjoying himself immensely (here he's the dude with the camera). Too bad the drummer was stuck in the back -- not a gal but man was he amazing. Would've been fun to watch him.
It's hard for my poor little camera to get a good pic of something that's not right in front of it, but I managed to get a few decent shots of the crowd. The Mississippi Street Fair is probably about a dozen blocks long on a rolling-hill-like stretch of the Historic District. I give you about 1:30 p.m. It got even more crowded as I headed back to the beginning & a beautifully empty street. It was strange going to an event like this without volunteering or working at all; my feet are still sore, but I'm glad I went.
I was very good & didn't eat anything deep-fried or slathered in chocolate, so now I'm off to make myself a taco salad for dinner.
