Author's Comment: This fic was inspired when I was visiting my sister at her new apartment, and saw an ice cream truck selling Spiderman popsicles. I immediately thought of Hiroto. And since it's Japan I imagine they'd have Final Fantasy ice cream too. Enjoy!
Shou adjusted his sunglasses as he wandered down the street with Hiroto, hoping they’d finish their shopping soon so they could return to their nice, cool apartment. It was just too hot out here with the sun beating down on him and the humidity wreaking havoc with his hair.
“Pon, can we go home soon? It’s too hot,” Shou said, shaking his bangs out of his face as he shifted his shopping bags to his other hand.
“Yeah, I just want to go to one more…” Hiroto trailed off and stopped so suddenly that Shou walked into him, making the shorter man stumble forward.
“Sorry!” The vocalist quickly steadied him. “Go to one more what?”
“Look at that truck!” Hiroto squealed, pointing at a nearby ice cream truck.
Shou felt a little confused. “Yeah, I see it. It’s an ice cream truck.” Everyone had seen and bought from an ice cream truck before, so why was Hiroto making such a big deal about it?
“No, look at what it’s selling!” Hiroto seized Shou’s hand and brought him closer to the truck, pointing at the poster plastered to the side of vehicle. It listed the different types of ice cream sold along with its prices. “They have Spiderman popsicles! There’s Cloud and Sephiroth ones too!” He didn’t give Shou a chance to reply before dragging him into the line with him. Shou felt a little out of place since he and Hiroto were the only ones over the age of fifteen that weren’t parents.
Shou studied the poster closely. “I take it you’re getting Spiderman?”
“Of course!” Hiroto grinned, bouncing on his feet in excitement.
His enthusiasm was infectious. Shou hadn’t bought anything from an ice cream truck in years. It’d be fun to get ice cream and feel like a kid again. Plus it’d be a great way to cool down since it was just so hot today.
Fortunately for them, it didn’t take long to reach the front of the line. Hiroto paid for a Spiderman popsicle while Shou got Cloud after a few moments of dithering between eating Sephiroth or getting his favorite.
“Let’s sit on that bench over there.” Hiroto indicated a bench in the shade, and Shou followed him over to it. They sat down and set their shopping bags by their feet. Hiroto ripped the packaging off his popsicle and immediately began licking it, an expression of bliss on his face.
“This is delicious.”
“Good.” Shou opened his popsicle and tried it for himself, nodding in satisfaction. It tasted great.
“Hey, Shou. Having fun licking Cloud?” Hiroto asked, snickering as the vocalist turned red.
“S-Shut up!”
Hiroto laughed some more. “You’re so cute, Shou.” He tousled the vocalist’s hair before returning to his popsicle, nibbling on the top of it and looking very content.
Shou turned his attention back to his after he got over his embarrassment from Hiroto’s earlier comment. The ice cream was starting to melt already, and Shou quickly licked up the parts dripping down so they wouldn’t fall onto his fingers. The cold treat tasted delicious, and he was glad Hiroto had seen the truck.
“Great idea, Pon.”
“Hm?” Hiroto turned to him.
“Getting ice cream.”
Hiroto beamed. “I always have good ideas!”
Shou decided not to remind him about all the bad ideas his lover had had, such as the time he’d drawn on Tora’s face with permanent marker when he was asleep. That hadn’t ended well. Or the time he’d hidden Nao’s coffee when they were on tour. Nao in a caffeine deprived rage still haunted him.
Hiroto scooted closer to Shou on the bench and slipped an arm around his waist. “Let me try Cloud.”
“Sure.” Shou offered him the popsicle, and Hiroto tried some, nodding.
“It’s good, but Spiderman tastes better! Try him.”
Shou smiled fondly but obeyed. “It is good. I’m not sure which tastes better.” Thoughtfully, he took a bite out of one of Cloud’s hair spikes.
“We’ll have to get Cloud and Sephrioth next time,” Hiroto said, laughing a little as he swung his legs on the bench.
“We should. They had a Gundam one too, we’ll have to bring Nao by.”
Hiroto chuckled. “We will.”
After that, they were quiet as they finished their ice cream since the more they talked, the faster their treats melted. Hiroto finished first and leaned his head against Shou’s shoulder after they’d thrown their sticks and packaging away. Absently, he traced his fingers over the vocalist’s stomach. “Want to go home now? I wanted to go to another store, but I think we’ve done enough shopping for today.”
Shou nodded eagerly. “Let’s. It’s too hot to be out for long.”
Hiroto pressed a brief kiss against his jaw before straightening. “It is. Come on, let’s go home. I want to watch Spiderman now!”
Shou chuckled. “But you’ve seen it so many times.”
Hiroto pouted as he gathered his shopping bags. “So? I love Spiderman!”
“Which movie?” Even though he’d gotten tired of Spiderman a few months ago, Shou never had the heart to say no since he knew how much Hiroto loved Spiderman.
“The first one.” Hiroto seized Shou’s hand and barely gave him time to collect his shopping before tugging him down the street and to the parking ramp where they’d left their car. Hiroto drove them home and put their shopping bags in their room. Shou settled down on the couch while Hiroto turned on the TV, started up the DVD player, and put Spiderman in. Done, Hiroto sat in Shou's lap, leaning back against his chest and snuggling close to him. The vocalist wound his arms around Hiroto’s waist and leaned his face against his lover’s dark hair, sighing in contentment. Even though he’d seen Spiderman so many times he knew what the characters would say before they spoke, he didn’t mind since he was watching it with Hiroto. And he’d do anything to make his lover happy.
