Weekly Discussion 2: Timeline
Hey guys! Just a quick reminder that this Friday, April 22nd, write_dattebayo will officially start accepting submissions for week one's assignment! Here's the link to said assignment and quick breakdown in case you forgot/haven't had a chance to look yet :).
Assignment 1: Getting To Know the Characters
For our first assignment we'll be dealing with two characters: Our favorite and our least favorite. We'll be taking a leaf out of the 20_truths community and write ten detailed facts (or "truths") about each character. The point of this exercise is to learn more about these characters so we can better utilize them in our fics. Please follow the 20_truths formula when writing (list facts rather than write a linear story with ten facts interceded).
With that out of the way, I have a quick question for the community on the posting of assignments/critiques timeline. As it stands now you have a week to submit an assignment (Friday - Friday) and only two days to critique (Saturday and Sunday). I have two concerns with this timeline:
1) The cut off time for getting a submission in is Friday at 10:00pm (EST). My hope was, with this timeline, it would give the moderators at least two hours to comprise a list of all the assignments submitted to a critiquer and sent out by Saturday, 12:00 AM (EST). However I don't know if it's a realistically possible for the mods given life circumstances.
2) Would two days be enough time for everyone to look over their assigned critique and make a proper review of it?
That all being said, what do you guys think of the submission/critique timeline? Should the submission time be shortened and the critique time lengthened? Should critiques carry on into the next week? Suggestions, thoughts, comments?
