Survivor Island: First Elimination.

Jul 01, 2006 22:00

Survivors, after completing the race, you were instructed to journey to the North end of the island. There, you see a large bonfire and three flags representing your respective teams. Here, you will meet your teammates.

On the left is a wide, white flag. In it's center, a green sun. This is where Gatsby's Green Team will stand.

eunuch_dreams: "I'm an eighteen-year old student who lives in London. My family traveled around a hell of a lot when I was younger. I worked unpaid at a top film studio in London (I have been studying at home since being expelled) and hope to become a d.o.p. after I graduate from a practical film course in three years' time. I am currently about to work for a TV advertising company on four weeks' work experience, and after this I will embark on a TEFL course, and afterwards I'm going on a gap year to Vietnam with a friend. (YES, I TRIED TO MAKE MY LIFE SOUND AS BORING AS POSSIBLE.)"

nyarhotep:

blue_thundering: "blue_thundering is a third year university student of Political Science & English Lit at Waterloo University. She has been studying fiction and poetry seriously for 6 and 3 years respectively, though she's been writing since she was three. She submits regularly to magazines, and is always striving to improve herself while waiting for the rejection letters. Her fiction influences are Parker, Carver, and Hemingway; while she recognises no clear poetic influence, she is a strong lover of Eastern European surrealism (Milosz, Szymborska, Hikmet, Simic to an extent). She is also a fervent believer in critique as an art form that likewise needs to be honed, and so participates on a great many writing communities."

jenni_powell: "Jenni Powell likes cheese. And to write. Sometimes she writes about cheese. That is when she feels most alive."

beethovenette87: "I love to write. I think I consider myself and amateur writer. I've had some small poems and prose published in a magazine, a booklet and a newsprint magazine.

I also play piano. I love music. I enjoy running. I love learning. I like playing computer games too (especially on Neopets! :-)). I like to analyze magazines as well.

Well, that's all."

In the center stands a tattered but proud blue flag. It may have been made out of an old handkerchief. This is the flag of the Huckleberry Blue Bandits.

theopposition: "Jackie is a twenty-two year old from Monmouth Junction, New Jersey, and an aspiring novelist and poet. She has been to several colleges to study Creative Writing and went to a vocational writing high school. When she is not struggling with her harrowing writer's block, she is often found at the movies, running all over the Jersey Shore with her running crew, or asking people new music to download."

tophet_perish: "Born only a year shy of an actual Friday the 13th birthday, Jocelyn has always strived to be spooky. But, like the truth of it all, usually fails. Now she is out to make a name for herself (albeit on the internet, but still!) and fully intends on being active and participating to the fullest of her extent in Survivor Island. She also has stinky clothes and feels she has no basis for critiquing other's work when her own is in desperate need."

ioianthe: "I'm Mandy, my passion is for prose and memoir, my publications are limited to school collections. I have a million stories started, and a million more ideas... "

rivereyes: "I'm your typical meta-addicted English major, with a serious lack of discipline. If things keep going the way they're going, I'll wind up a third tier copy editor, ranting on and on to anyone that will listen that "Yes, I am working on my novel..." when we all know it's a dirty, placating lie. I'm not looking to write any novels within the next month (I’ve always been more of a short-story kind of gal), but maybe Survivor Island is the kick in the pants I need to break my cycle of procrastination. "

rainbowglowfish: "My name's Natalie and I've been writing for fun since I was 9 years old. Since then it has been my dream to one day be published, or at the very least have other people read my work and actually enjoy it. I have been published twice in a newspaper and once in a magazine, but I don't write articles anymore so I haven't been sending any in -- but I think I should probably start doing that again. Aside from writing, I enjoy reading, going out with my friends, eating, shopping, watching films, taking pictures, travelling and learning about new cultures."

Finally, on the right is not a flag, but a gold and purple jester's hat turned side ways and tied to the pole with thread. This is the flag of the Twelfth Yellow Knights.

smeddley: "I'm a 30-something caffeine addicted governmentally employed craft-happy engineer who loves reading and sleeping. And playing with my puppy. And watching sporting events."

roma_ann: "I was always a writer- as soon as I could hold the fat, black primary school pencil properly, I had one at my fingertips almost constantly. Even now that I type moreso than write with pen or pencil, the callous on my finger from pressing down so hard when writing is permanent.

The writing is part of a background landscape, though. At the forefront of the busy landscape has been: earning a college degree in Sociology, raising a wonderful child, sporadic volunteer work, years of corporate work from administrative assisting to programming, and most recently, substitute teaching."

jennafern: "I'm 32 years old and live in New Jersey. My first "novel" was published through a POD, so I learned what not to do when it comes to writing and being published. My second book will be out in 2007. I’ve been writing in one form or another since I was a teenager, but only recently realized that this was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. So I went back to school and I’m two days away from my Associates degree."

dark_math_girl: "My birth certificate says I'm sixteen, but no one needs to know that. I'm taking college courses, dating a Carnegie Mellon student, and daydreaming about being a piñata. I love to stay busy - in January 2006 I had 20 extracurricular activities - but I still completed NaNoWriMo 2005. I'm professionally published, I love to feel things, and I have a bit of an ego problem. The most important value in the world for me is tolerance. I’m obsessed with a lot of things I’m not particularly good at, most notably math and softball."

Yellow Knights. You have had the most to lose this race. You did not know this, but if you lost, you would only have three players remaining. While the Blue and Green teams had only one player left, only half your team completed the race. At the last possible moment, however, you pulled through, and you have won immunity.

Blue Bandits, Green Knights, you will say goodbye to two of your players tonight.

theopposition, blue_thundering, please pack your pens and notebooks. You have been eliminated from the Island.

Remaining Survivors, return to your camps. Tomorrow, a new challenge waits.
