Phoenix is generally in tune with his canon self. He did what he did, and his timeline would be almost immediately post-GS3.
In terms of his past, he had a generally happy childhood. He keeps contact with very few people from his college days, but the people he still calls now and again tend to be busy with their acting careers.

Explanation time!
In school, he needed to generate a little bit of income to offset his tuition fees, so he started up a site to hook some friends up for fun. Somehow, his matchmaking skills were so coveted that half the school started to chase him down for some dating help. Soon, the money was rolling in and Phoenix stuck to it as a steady form of side income.
Nowadays, he just hangs around and lets the site make all the money for him. He's allowed Pearl and Maya to hijack the place, hence the pink background and the subtitle, but he can't really care less.
