Other milestones have come and gone - two other birthdays, learning to crawl, eating solid foods, learning to walk, attending our first concert, moving a few times (to DC, to Raleigh, to Chicago, back to Raleigh), etc. Maybe one day we'll add backdated posts for those things. Maybe.
BUT! This week is awesome, and needs to be talked about RIGHT NOW.
First off, we're starting school! The preschool has the unfortunate name of MUMPS (
Millbrook United Methodist Preschool), but we're really excited, and we're going every Monday and Wednesday! Mama and Daddy went for a parent orientation last Tuesday, then we went in for an hour-long student orientation last Wednesday, and we loved it. There's a music room, and we're going to have story time, and all sorts of awesome things. When we're older, we'll get to learn Spanish and use the science room, too.
Tonight Mama and Daddy took us out to pick out back packs and lunch boxes. David decided on a puppy dog back pack and matching lunchbox, and I got a dino set. They're from Skip*Hop; maybe I'll get Mama or Daddy to post a picture later. Tomorrow morning will be our very first day of class!
The one odd thing, though, is that we're in a class for two year-olds. But we're turning three in just a few days! Mama says that's because we'll be with this age group when we go to school; we just missed the cut-off.
Even though we haven't quite turned three yet, we've already had our birthday party out at Pullen Park (the choo-choo park). It was SO MUCH FUN!
Mama and Daddy had been talking about our birthday party for a while. We got to go with Daddy to pick out cupcakes the day before - I picked out ones that looked like owls, but Daddy got other kinds, too.
Then we went to dinner and saw Grandmama and Granny, then had a sleepover at Grandmama's house while Mama and Daddy went away. They were back the next morning, though - they always are.
Daddy left a little early, but then we got our shoes on and loaded up into the van. Mama and Grandmama drove us, and we got to watch Thomas the Tank Engine. It took FOREVER, but we finally got to the choo-choo park! Grandmama unloaded us and Mama took the car away. On our way in, we saw Aunt Nancy and Jessica! We walked into the park together.
Just a little way into the park, we saw balloons with Thomas on them! They were sitting on top of a table in the shade, and there were PRESENTS!!!
Manda and Simon were there, as were Granny, Granddaddy, Grandfather, Gangee, Grandmama, Emily, Aunt Nancy, cousin Jessica, and of course Mama and Daddy. We had cupcakes, and everyone sang Happy Birthday to us! We couldn't stand waiting on the cupcakes, though, so we went ahead and opened a couple of presents while we were waiting for people to pick out their cupcake, and I poked my owl cupcake in its eye.
After cupcakes, it was time to open presents. Jessica helped bring us presents and helped us open a few. She gave us these cool helicopters we've been playing with ever since.
We got whole bunches of trains and train tracks, a guitar, a rockin' robots game, hungry hungry hippos, Mike the Knight set, books, and more!
Then everyone went to the train to take a ride. The line was long, though, so Mom suggested Jessica, David and I ride on the boats while waiting for the train. I rode with Jessica, but David decided he wanted to ride by himself, so he could steer AND ring the bell. Right as we were done with that, it was time to run over to the train! Choooooo-choooo!
After that, we got to play in the playground, until Mama announced it was time for lunch. Then we went back over to the tables and ran under the shade until Daddy brought us our hot dogs. Then we went home and cracked into that Mike the Knight set right away, until Mama and Daddy made us go upstairs for naptime.
When we woke up from naptime, Daddy had made a big train track out of all of our new train sets!
We're going to get another birthday party at MUMPS on Wednesday, but this was the best.
