Well, we finally got the winter storm that the weathermen have been bleating about on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. And when I woke up, there was 8" of snow on the ground and my road was a white icy mess. So I called in to work saying that I would be in as soon as the roads were safe enough for me to drive. I planned to work on my quilt- all the squares are done and I'm setting the top together- and watch some TV I hadn't gotten to. I had gotten a bit extra cat food and supplies so I wasn't worried about running out of anything (until Emily told me we were out of milk because my life is a cliché) and the forecast was for mid-forties by afternoon.
But, no, I didn't get to stay home... someone from work came and picked me up (my manager too) and we went in and, because everyone else called in, worked 11 hours. *sigh* and I was so looking forward to having more than one day off in a row. I just can't seem to get used to that. At least I got to get milk...
In other news, I am hunting some back issues of an Australian magazine Embroidery & Cross Stitch. If anybody knows anyone in Australia who can poke around and see if they're available, I'm looking for Vol. 20 numbers 7 and 8; Vol. 19 number 9 and Vol. 18 number 5. They've got projects I really, really want to do but I can't find a copy online anywhere that ships to the USA.
In the meantime, I'm setting my quilt top together- by the time the weather warms up enough for me to comfortably be in my sewing room, I'll be ready to work on the border.
work,
quilting
