Mostly today, I took the day off and read. I was going to finish Nancy's outfit and get a picture to post tonight... and the shoes are just wrong. The one original shoe is great but the new pair... they're just wrong. I wish I could find the other one of the original pair!!!
Of course, I did do dinner tonight, being the holiday and all. Corned beef and cabbage and boiled potatoes... with
Irish soda bread and
Irish Car Bomb cupcakes for dessert.
Since I was doing dinner anyway, I went ahead and set up the table:
I had hoped to have a second St Patrick plate by today but didn't manage it. I'd also like to get these:
Since they're really small, only 3", I'd use them for bread plates or possibly cupcake plates. Now all I have to do is find them!
On a more somber note, I got the news that one of my best friends will not be here much longer. This makes me sad as I've known him 25 years but it's a bit mitigated by the knowledge that he's had a DNR order in place for most of that time and is prepared. He's never been in excellent health and it's been quite bad for the last few years. If it can be managed, I'd like to go see the rest of the Hobbit with him- movies have been a thing with us and he's almost as big a Tolkien fan as I am. In any event, I'll be ok- sorry, but ok- it's his wife I'm worried about. She's alright now... but when he's really gone it's going to be hard on her.
