Hamilton County Fair 2012

Sep 30, 2012 23:02

As promised, I'm going to take you an a pictorial tour around our county fair this year. It was awfully small but there were still some fun things to see and do an Chester Frost Park is beautiful at all times. Today was partly cloudy and while there was a chance of rain, it didn't... although all the hay bales were wrapped in black plastic. Since people were using them as seating, this is a good thing because there is nothing wetter than sitting on a wet hay bale- short of falling in the lake fully dressed.

Woodworking- a treadle lathe and a treadle bandsaw

Dancing Dan was really dancing!

A finished project.

A fabulous antique car show

I loved this one!

But this was my favorite.

>
Wooden fairy houses

At the same booth- They gave the mouse a cookie.

A demonstration of caning.

My favorite pattern.

Storytime was non-stop here.

Smiths demonstrating iron working.

A young entrepreneur- she had a bunny stand.

25¢ to pet the bunnies, $1 to hold one for a little while- tips went to bunny food.

How do you resist that?

Crafts for sale

The rides were not much and mostly for younger children.

Although there were some...!

Mini Nascar races.

Tons of lemonade and food... and ice tea, of course.

Fabulous facepainting

And the cavalry- in case someone needed them.

There was live music all day long- one band right after another.

There were llamas... donating their wool to a spinning exhibition.

There were horses, of course.

This is Comanche- he begs pets as badly as any of our cats. He likes kids especially.

This baby goat was smaller than our dog!

A demonstration of victory garden techniques. We may need them again soon.

Not all of the garden was food.

A container herb garden.

Gottcha!

Now we're going into the home goods pavilion. There was too much to take pictures of everything so I chose the things we liked best.

Of course I took pictures of the quilts...

A 75 year old maple tree.

These are only 45 years old.

30 years old. And people think quilts take a long time!

The baked goods section.

The flower show

A junior entry- ending with a smile!

come for a walk with me, quilting, unplugged summer
