What is the "ART" you speak of?

I love you all. You're all darling. Many of you have left me lovely notes and songs and parcels and I've been too internet-less and covered in paint and useless to say thank you, which is very bad manners of me =( Even worse I've skipped meetings and social stuff due to being too tired or just too crazy.
Feh. I shall endeavor to make it up to you all. I have plans. Oh yes. Plans. Mwahahaa.
In the mean time, in between the painting, the sleeping and the crazy, I've been trying to pokk my neurons back into doing art. I felt like I haven't done it for years and am looking at a pencil and sketch pad in utter neuronic incomprehension of WTF if thisssss?!
The other night I did very scribbly pictures of me, Vincent, and also JHH, which I'm sort of pleased with. They're not good - they're bloody shambolic scribbles - but I think they have something of the right character. I might use them as a base for some graphics-pad painting, that would be cool.
Today's art was working on the Bedlam Crest.
Bethlem Hospital does actually have a crest (which I was able to glean thanks to Spacedmonkey and also Gulliver's Travels) and I have for ages been pokking and adapting it into the signet crest for Bedlam the Thing/Entity/Monarch.
If I get it right, it's something I'd like as a tattoo. (Placement: shoulder bit of upper right arm, mirroring the eye of Horus I have on my left.)
This is the preliminary design. I like it, but it needs a lot of fine tuning before I would be happy with it as a tattoo. There are lots of variations possible with things like the crown being replaced with a helm or a castle; the blood drops on the shield being left off; the chains or the lower banner being left off, the writing being changed... The important bit I need to sort is the shading so it doesn't just look clunky and utilitarian but is lighter and fits with my wings.
FIRST DRAFT. NEEDS REFINEMENT.
