"Oh, I'm a good old Rebel

Now that's just what I am
For this Yankee Nation
I do not give a damn.
I'm glad I fit against it
I only wish we'd won..."

On thursday I sorted the flat as best I could and then scampered over Edgware-ways to bytepilot's place for the newyear's festivities. There were fun people to talk to, a huge burny fire, alcohol, and the ritualistic writing in the Book of Good and the destruction of the Book of Evil. In the morning there was even breakfast - most hospitable - but maybe best of all was the gifting of an old medicine bottle which is the perfect size and shape to have in one's pocket full of laudanum. Yey!

On friday I went to visit ketchgirl for a long weekend of M7, tarot, talking rubbish over whiskey and re-scripting Eastenders with the sound on mute. (How anything sensible could have been written with all those longing brokeback-mountain looks, the shiny coat and turban of power, the obligatory wheelchair man, the unhappy pastry woman and a raddled Eddie Izzard thirty years on talking in a loo and the throwing of sherbet saucers, I really don't know.) I was even gifted cigarettes, for which my neurons and I were extremely grateful =)

On saturday we went to see Sherlock Holmes. It was very pretty, totally preposterous and really good fun - I liked it a lot. My only complaint was that the pacing between crazy action, Holmsian explanation, and Holmes/Watson bickering seemed off somehow. Still, definitely a film I'll be happy to see again.

Sunday was a pleasantly lazy day interspersed with more silliness, and finally a return to the flat in Shamblyland. Today I got my parcel of shininess and lo, it was very shiny. (Although I need to find out how to distress a wool cavalry hat and make it less stiff and pristine for I am a scruffy corvid.)

Now I'm at the Oast for accounts and mother-watching duties. I am creating laudanum labels and trying to work out the best filter/layer-fade to make something look old and badly printed. Lalala.
