Followup on the Big Lie

When we confronted her with her deceit last night, she was calmer than I expected with only a bit of tears, but when she was told she couldn't go to her grandmother's this weekend, it got quite stormy. Mostly tears though, little anger this time, thank goodness. Tears are hard, but door slamming and shouting and "I hate yous" get old really fast

I just noticed that she also added something to my calendar. Under Tuesday, February 15, it now says "Day of Sadness".

Oh heck... that's just too funny in a "thank goodness it's happening to someone else that isn't me" kind of way. Will there be a somber parade to mark the Day of Sadness in future years? Seriously, it's something the three of you will all laugh about in several years, as much as it sucks now. When she's 20, she won't be able to believe she would actually have ever written that.

Good on you for sticking to your guns, that's where the real teaching is, and somehow, deep down, she knows that!

Oh we think it's funny too, we just have to be careful she doesn't catch us laughing!

As for the parade, it's very likely. We had a funeral for an empty tape dispenser, so a parade for the Day of Sadness is almost required!
