"The devil hates methodists and baptists the most because they sing and pray the loudest." --I forget. ;-)

I think you had some interesting things to say. I particularly liked what you said about Jesus being an includer. This is very true--some of his best friends were whores, he dined with tax collectors (the lowest of the low at the time), and most of his ministries and miracles were for those on the wrong side of the tracks (but this was before trains).

I think it is a good thing to explore multiple religions as you say, especially if one is new to Christianity, and especially to faith in general. However, I have met people from many sects of Christianity who have a healthy view of religion, spirituality, and who have their own ideas as opposed to automatically assimilating what their church's dogma tells them. Some of them are even *gasp* Catholic or Episcopalian. It all depends on what you do with what you're given. However, I also have seen the cultism side of religion, both in my family and the family of a friend, so I understand your concern there too.

For me, the thing was to stay focused on was spirituality, as opposed to religion. Especially since I've had a tendency to find this in many more places than churches. Don't get me wrong, they are beautiful and fantastic places to sing in, but I tend to feel more spiritual when I'm singing (in general) or out in a place of natural beauty (especially if there are lots of trees.)

The key thing is, tho, as you said: we are all God's (or Goddess') children.

Thanks for commenting TERI. Ha ha. I liked your quote. You seem to have a good balance of spirituality and religion. I will try to be simmilar and always remember what it was like to doubt and be uncertain, and to be logically discerning as much as possible too. It was the search for truth that got me here, and I will never cease that search even still.

God is certainly very mom-like. lol Maybe it is a goddess. ;)

Teri almost sounds like a Uni (aka Unitarian). They're the only major Christian sect I know to refer to God as Goddess. I'm telling you, check them out!

Actually, I was raised Methodist. Now, I'm loosely Protestant due to some official decisions in the Methodist church a few years ago. I don't try too hard for labels. They never seem to accurately describe what I do/think.

And as for the God(dess) thing, its more of a thing I have where I don't really think God(dess) has a true gender.
