Today is such a Monday.  Already in battle royale round 2 with our accounting department within a few minutes of being at the office.  I really pissed them off royally on Friday (it was my fault, i take responsibility) but there are so many fucking rules and regulations to getting anything ordered or done here and we have one credit card for a ( Read more... )

I should be working right now, but since I've been going non-stop today at work since 9AM, I feel okay taking a little break to share wedding fun with you as a happy distraction from everything else going on (thanks for asking BTW)

We're getting married in Lockhart, TX (the BBQ capital of Texas y'all!) on a working polo ranch that is 420 acres. They recently (as in the last two years) built and opened an event venue on the property and since I'd been there for many games in the past and now they had this beautiful new event barn and a tie-in to polo, I was sold at first sight.

Wedding is on Friday, Nov 12, rescheduled from Friday, November 6, 2020. It's a vow renewal really. We'll be doing a short ceremony where we are going to say our actual vows that we wrote (which we did not do last year). We do have a wedding party (wish I had decided no wedding party because my bridesmaids have been useless, but it's fine, whatever). Sour Bridges has agreed to play our cocktail hour and we are also going to have a polo match happening on the fields below the barn during cocktail hour as well (go big or go home, right?)

Our photographer also did our engagement photos and killed it.

We are serving BBQ from I Do BBQ, brisket, chicken fajitas, hot potato salad, jalapeno poppers... a very Texan event if you will. Lots of out-of-state guests on my side, so figured we would play it up. Originallly invited 165, looking like we'll be closer to 125-130 which is fine by me. Colors are wine, eggplant, gold, mauve... theme is dark and moody (like me, ha). I'm wearing my original wedding dress that's been sitting in my closet for two years and brett got a custom made velvet suit coat in wine color. We'll have signature cocktails (The Frank (old fashioned) the Lulu (a French 75), and the Spanky ( a mocktail that was named after my mom's evil chihuahua). My table decor is random... we have 8ft farmhouse tables that will have runners (which i made), greenery garlands, votive candles and sprinkling of velvet pumpkins which my mother has impressively sewn by hand. There will be pumpkins everywhere because I'm basic and love fall and the mom's have gone overboard buying pumpkins and at this point i don't care.

The reception will mainly be a lot of dancing and drinking. We are foregoing the traditional stuff like bouquet toss/garter and all of that. We are doing cupcakes instead of wedding cake and will have a full-blown s'mores bar with a firepit. There will be LOTS of craft beers on the menu. Doing a surprise "last dance" for Brett while the guests line up for our sparkler exit, so that should be neat. Hopefully, if we're still awake, we'll do an after party at the hotel bar. Brett pulled some hotel strings and got us the penthouse at one of the swanky hotels downtown, so really looking forward to some FUN. Crossing my fingers for good weather, cooperative bridal party and a fun day for all (including ourselves).
