it sucks, and i am frankly kinda pissed about trading, but i am pretty sure you cant be banned. in fact, i have a sneaky feeling bliz is ok with this trading because they dont actually have to fix the unbalanced issue with attacking and defending, yet most servers will trade, which gets people bitching about never getting to do the raid off their backs.
Yeah, it's kind of hard to not assume that Blizzard didn't see this coming. I mean, they're not stupid. I'll be super disappointed if this really is there answer though, just because it's such a lazy fix.
There are no specific Blue Posts about what consequences there are for the win-trading, you likely saw what people like me WANT the consequences to be.
You're unlikely to get banned for going to TB.
You *might* get banned for a few days if Blizzard catches you organizing TB win-trades in /trade /raid or /1 or (sheesh some people are really stupid) on Blizzard's official forums
Ideally we'll ALL lose all honor and PvP gear bought since the Fail Barad NOTFix, since it would probably take too much effort for Blizzard to seperated the good from the venal and bad.
Attacking is hard up to the point where the opposition lets you win so they can get more honor next time. No, it's not a bug but it's an incredibly poor fix to a broken battleground and people ought to complain.
I doubt they'll take away honor or gear, but the change itself IS something they need to revert. TB is almost impossible to queue for now because everyone rushes for it. There's no point in trying if you're defending, because your faction isn't going to help you out. They just want to lose so they can get a free piece of gear that they didn't have to work for.
QQ is to be expected, because it was a very stupid decision by Blizz to give 1800 honor. Trading wins kills the point of TB, but it was bound to happen with that much honor on the table.
I think as long as you, yourself, aren't organizing such things and are just showing up to TB, I can't see why you'd be banned. They'd have to ban, well, everyone who set foot in TB then. Which clearly isn't an option.
I think as long as you aren't actively participating in win trading you should be fine. I was so happy my server wasn't participating in it, and then they started last night. About 3/4 of the Alliance team was standing in the middle doing nothing while I and a few others tried in vain to defend. Apparently the Horde wasn't in on the "trade" though because they've had it all day...
I put in a ticket for the few people who actively said "We are win trading" but it's still open and who knows what will come of it. While I definitely don't agree with win trading I can't really see how Blizz thought anything but that would happen with this change. I still queue for TB on occasion. I'm not concerned with getting banned. On a different but related note you can report people in TB afk just like you could in a BG, so if they are really just standing in the center doing nothing at all, you might be able to get them kicked out.
Yeah, my server (Saurfang EU) had alliance whining in trade all yesterday begging us to give it to them because 'they'll give it back'. At the time of writing they've had it for the last 4 battles, because 1 person cannot speak for his or her entire faction.
