A walk in the park

Mar 28, 2020 09:35

I am writing this before I leave and setting it to publish tomorrow... I have never done this before so it might not work! On Wednesday I finally made it to Chengcing lake, with a picnic.
It was an amazing place and I really enjoyed it.

Tropical chestnut or Sterculia foetida

Pyrostegia venusta, or Flamevine

Cattle egret. I have to recommend the Merlin.id app from Cornell University which has enabled me to identify local birds and hear their songs. This was especially satisfying when I was finally able to see a bird I had been hearing over and over in the trees. It was a black naped oriole, very colourful but surprisingly difficult to spot!

Iguana sunbathing

Cassia javanica also known as Appleblossom shower

This is a small version of a palm that is seen every where in Kaohsiung, Archontophoenix alexandrae, the trunk looks and feels like it has been encased in concrete.

Tortoise with his friend, fish.

A view of Fu Guo island

These brightly colored eggs fascinated me, I think that they belong to the enormous water snails that live in the lake.

A view of Rosie’s apartment block.

The Happiness garden....

A view of the main entrance with adorable topiary ducks.

Guinea pigs, looking like mini Karls.

Baby albino hedgehog

The First Lady hothouse, I have probably got the name wrong.

I was seriously hot by the time I had done all this walking, I had been out since 10.45 and it was 14.30 so after this I decided to cool down in the Ocean Fantasy Museum, which I have already shared on Instagram.
