This is my second attempt, because I wanted to change my posting access, and lost the whole post!
Normally lj saves your previous draft, but apparently not in this case.
So, back to the drawing board...
I did finish my cross stitch of the Nerines for my brother, but failed to mount it on a cushion, so it is still here.
I also made myself a pair of boot cuffs using circular needles, a first for me, and I finished them in time for (the end of) the holiday!
I still have a week off work, and I am full of good intentions to keep busy and keep posting, however I didn't do much yesterday, and today is a bank holiday, and grey skies and cooler temperatures may sabotage my efforts.
Back to Spain, once we had settled in to the hotel we decided to take a stroll up the valley. This plant is endemic on the Picos, its name is Lithodora diffusa, but it is also called Heavenly Blue, and I think that is very apt.
At first we walked along a small road,
but it became more rustic as we went on.
The river running through the valley is the Rio Cares, although of course it didn't care at all.
Icy blue water...
We were observed by this goat on the fence
While his friend peeped out from beneath, through those weird letterbox eyes.
I think this is a Teucrium...
As I said, the path became a little more rustic as we continued...
We knew it was time to go back when we met this shepherd, bringing in the sheep. (2 pints ref intended)
