Walking and finding orchids...

May 08, 2017 20:46

Today is VE day in France, that is the day victory was declared here in Europe in 1945. It is a Bank Holiday, one of France's many, and with the election of Macron there will be one more apparently.
I am relieved Macron made it, as Le Pen would have been a scary statement about the people around me, and what they really think about us foreigners. Anyway, I took advantage of the good weather to do a walk from Duravel to home via St Martin de Redon, which took me 3 1/2 hours, but that was including picnic time and orchid time.

Following yesterday's rant I am still struggling with Photobucket, however it now spontaneously downloads some of my iPhone photos. Today I realised I had forgotten my camera within minutes of being dropped off by Christopher, so all pictures would have to be phone pics. They aren't great but at least it's a record.

First that I see, a Pyramid orchid.

Dear old Scolopax, these were looking good, and were in evidence all along the path.

View back over the Lot valley and Duravel.

Fallen trees made the path a bit impractical at times.

Blurry Red Admiral, there were many enjoying some horse poo along the track but none wanted to be caught in the act!

I am quite excited about this one, could it be a frog orchid...? It is probably a Butterfly orchid not quite opened, but I need to check in a week's time.

Fly orchid, there were several, but my phone refused to focus on them.

and with this Purple orchid I have to finish. The other photos haven't appeared, but I am pleased to have been able to share some of today's finds.

Bonus pic, a Fritillary from Saturday.

butterflies, walk, wild flowers
