Well, re: The Candidate (that...was the title, right? omg too lazy to look it up), I feel bad but I was almost completely unaffected by the deaths. Sayid has been ?????? since last season and especially this season when his zombie affliction was never explained and he basically sat around and stared vacantly at people while Naveen Andrews appeared to be so annoyed at the direction of his character that he stopped even attempting an accent, so...cool?! glad you could be awesome again for the last 30 seconds of your life??? see ya in the alt, Sayid. I remember when I loved you almost the most.
and Sun/Jin, I...don't know. I DON'T KNOW GUYS. I think I have become really bitter about them and the ways in which they never really went anywhere. this was exacerbated by the fact that I randomly watched the first six episodes of s3 this week* and hey remember when Sun was set up to be kind of a sociopathic child who cared very little for the effect her actions had on other people? except that NEVER REALLY WENT ANYWHERE? and why the fuck were they speaking English for most of the episode including their ~final goodbye~? it was so jarring! we are used to them discussing things with each other in Korean! (I am not even going into how annoying it was that Sun ~lost her English~ and then ~got it back~ when she saw Jin who...speaks Korean?! what the fuck was the point of that, exactly?!) Sun, you could have been so awesome, but you were ultimately just fodder for nothing really except sensationalist killings. Jin, also, you are one of like three or four dudes on this show I do not actively hate, glad you are not around anymore.
I am convinced Frank is not dead because no one reacted to it/they are not mentioning it anywhere while justifying the rest of the bloodbath, sooooo. There is also the fact that they slaughtered three people of color including another lady, GREAT JOB. (I saw someone actually wanting Kate to die in order to make Jack accept his responsibility as the new Jacob or wtfever, and I was just like OH MY GOD GUYS KATE REALLY DESERVES TO DIE ON HER OWN TERMS IF IT HAPPENS AT ALL I WOULD SAY?!!? JFC.)
but getting to the real point: today I was seriously overwhelmed by a sudden and intense desire for Kate and Claire to be girlfriends. I WANT THEM TO BE GIRLFRIENDS SO BAD. what is this attack of shipping?! IDEK. I even vaguely shipped them way back in 2005 and once attempted to write really bad fic in 2nd person POV that centered around Kate finding Claire a hairbrush and Claire doing Kate's star chart. with ~intense astrological symbolism~. did I just admit that to the world? uhhhhhhh.
but back then I was really all about Jack/Kate, I just think my brain was attempting to tell me something, which is that: KATE AND CLAIRE JUST NEED TO MAKE THE FUCK OUT. I want them to get off the Island and both get to be Aaron's mommies (and maybe now raise poor Ji Yeon who didn't even get a mention in the death scene). they can all play with stuffed polar bears and plastic dinosaurs together! and Claire will gradually become less crazy as Kate deals with her Relationship Issues!
*omg, I forgot how bad s3 actually was! or at least the beginning. dude. and it just makes so little fucking sense, which is just a theme that will continue forever with Lost I think. (why the fuck is it justified for Ben to incarcerate Karl and allow him to pretty brutally beaten just because he is his daughter's bf?! uhhhh....?) how about when the Others strapped Sawyer down on a board and pretended to have surgically inserted a pacemaker into his heart, and then Ben fake-murdered a bunny in front of him?! lol what. and this was also one of the show's major ~Kate/Sawyer is the OTP~ phases. and so then there was that time they had sex in a cage before Jack was manipulated into seeing them snuggling post-coitus on the security cameras. ...yes.
I also ALWAYS FORGET how Kate married Nathan Fillion, what the fuck. and then participated in a hilariously over-the-top portrait of domesticity together right down to her 20's housewife hairdo! right before she drugged and abandoned him, hobvs. (SHE DOESN'T DO TACO NIGHT)
also that time Locke lived on a pot commune which...is too ridiculous to even touch I think.

for the record: Dr. Juliet Burke is still awesome. also I have been having thoughts lately about how much I wish she went by Carlson, because she didn't even like douchey "NOT EVEN REGINA GEORGE DESERVED TO GET HIT BY A BUS MORE" ex-husband and was primarily motivated by her desire to get back to her sister. but hey Juliet, I will not judge your for your decisions about your name. no worries!
how about that time she smacked Jack ON THE FACE and knocked him out cold? just like we always want to do ourselves.
(I am watching Not In Portland right now. JULIET. ;_; okay, I am just going to go off on that rant now. WHYYYYY DID THEY FRIDGE YOU FOR SAWYER'S SAKE. whyyyyy? it is so dumb! they keep saying it was because they wanted this season to have a s1-ish feel to it and so Sawyer had to go back to being a tool, but that makes no sense. Jack is growing as a person! Claire is the ANTITHESIS of her s1 self! Sayid was...a zombie! Sun and Jin did nothing and then died! Miles and Frank and Ben and Richard were not around in s1! why do we have to sacrifice Juliet in a cheap play to make Sawyer like he was in s1 [WHEN HE WAS MUCH MORE ANNOYING] even though no one else even is?! MOTHERFUCKER. this is actually part of a much LARGER BEEF i am starting to have wrt Sawyer/Juliet, which I think I have finally pin-pointed my issues with, largely that: Juliet got totally folded into Sawyer's storyline! why'd that gotta go down, she was totally cool having her own independent place in the narrative. and then V turned out stupid anyways, so it is not like I got to enjoy the Elizabeth Mitchell Show...that's cool I guess. >:(!!!!)
in conclusion: KATE AND CLAIRE. GET OFF THE ISLAND AND GET MARRIED. (and make out a lot.) the end.
ETA: Okay, just as I'm finishing Not In Portland, can I just say that I LOVE what Liz Mitchell did with pre-island!Juliet? it is crazy! she is so cute and mousy and kind of a doormat (though still so strong and caring), which makes sense because she is a dorky scientist. it is so freaking adorable when Richard Alpert is giving her the presentation and she was like "uhhh WHY ME?" and they are like "DUDE YOU ARE BRILLIANT?" and she is like "......:D?" AWWWWWWH.
but that just highlights how sad it is that she is so hardened now, three years later and on. until, of course, she died. Juliet. :(
