I'd seen people plug themselves into ships and control them with their brain stems. I'd had my personality hop from one body to another, trying to get back to my own. (Although that detour through Aeryn? Priceless.) I'd watched people get brainwashed and memory wiped and mind-controlled. And then we picked up the rider and Tallip.
Totally one of those old-school Star Trek kind of setups, where you run into one alien being chased by another, turns out that the one you thought was the bad guy was the good guy, yada yada yada...
Both of 'em were incorporeal aliens who could jump into a body and take it over. The longer they did it, the better they could impersonate the original, but at some point, you'd still be able to figure out it wasn't Elvis. But we didn't know. We still thought we were watching the Comeback Special when I got a good dose of just what those aliens could do.
See, the rider was just a kid. Not too different than Chiana at the time, it just wanted to run out into the universe and see what kind of fun it could have. And so naturally, it ended up jumping into Chiana herself. So it was like Chiana squared, which I'll give you a minute to wrap your mind around.
Back? Okay.
So, me and Chi2 are down in the StarBurst chamber, where the bad cop alien, Tallip, can't find us. Through her, the rider says that it just wants to have a good time and experience some pleasure. Okay, yeah, it tried to jump me, but there just seems to be something about possessing Chiana that makes beings want to do stuff like that. Off topic, moving on.
Tallip, says the rider, is all about bringing the pain. The rider is about pleasure.
Which got demonstrated when it used Chi's hand to touch me and... give me a happy. And when I say "touch me" I mean, like, "put a fingertip on top of my clothes".
The rider thought it wasn't a good enough demo and did it a couple more times.
I live a crazy life, and sometimes, even the weirdest things can be just one percent okay. I guess that's the only point I've got.
