Olympus Coliseum - Day 21

Jul 06, 2007 23:49

Has it really been three weeks since this all began? It feels like so much more time has passed. I'm here in Olympus Coliseum, but not at said arena. The city outside the coliseum gets a lot of trade, and someone has to unload the goods and stack them up so they can be sold without hassle, so that's my week-long job this time around. It's hard work, but I know it's making me stronger, so I suppose it's worth it in the long run. It pays pretty well, too; I'm saving up for a real weapon (here's hoping I don't end up losing a finger or two to my own enthusiam).

There's no lack of reading material here, their library is huge and filled with scrolls. The only major problem I'm having is social cues, honestly. I suspect the shopkeepers are overcharging me simply because I'm a foreigner and don't know what to expect, but there's not much I can do about that. Still, there are people who have been friendly - I chatted for a while with a couple of girls outside a shrine to Aphrodite, and there's a fruit seller who gave me an extra lemon when I was buying food.

I think all in all I'm getting along pretty well here. I haven't been around the Coliseum itself much, so I haven't caught sight of the new and apparently creepy challengers, but I was thinking about heading over there early tomorrow to look around.
