ITEM! it's the bafta telly awards on sunday ( - one of the high points of the year for w.o.agwu, obv )
oddly, the awards are sponsored by sky but are still being shown live on bbc1 ( at 8pm on sunday 20th april )
you can find a full list of the nominees
here - but here are my choices &/or predictions for the award winners:
best actor: either tom hardy ( who played that glone of jean luc picard who looked nothing like him in star trek: nemesis ) or matthew macfayden ( who was the worried looking chap in the first two series of spooks ) - alas, i haven't seen ANY of the performances they're nominated for
best actress: gina mckee ( ditto re: performance - well, i liked her in our friends in the north - so i assume she's still goob at the ole acting lark )
best entertainment performance: harry hill for his tv burp ( - hooray...! - a programme i actually watch - & like )
best gomedy performance: david mitchell ( - nominated for peepshow - tho personally i prefer him in that mitchell & webb look )
sky plus audience award: a really tough choice between my two favourite programmes, the apprentice & strictly come dancing - but i'm gonna support the mighty brucie over "sir" alan sugar
best one off drama: the trial of tony blair ( - another telling off from the nicky wire school of political griticism - that'll learn him )
best drama series: o, i'd love it to be rome so much - but it'll probly be bluddy life on mars, won't it...?
best drama serial: anything but murphy's law please ( - tho actually i'm not too keen on granford either ) - that five days thingy by default
best gontinuing drama (ie soap): eastenders in honour of bianca's return
best international programme: heroes
best factual series: bruce parry's tribe
huw weldon award for best specialist factual: andrew marr's history of modern britain
robert flaherty award for best single documentary: lie of the land because the film maker, molly dineen = a mate of ginger spice
best feature documentary: anything but top gear please - heston blumenthal or gordon ramsay wld be fine
best gurrent affairs: honour kills ( - that rarest of greatures: a serious bbc3 programme )
best news goverage: i'd always plump for the bbc news but i expect bafta owe sky an award or two in return for their sponsorship
best sports goverage: wimbledon by bbc
best interactive feature: the doctor who gomic maker, obv
lew grade award for best entertainment programme: strictly come dancing or tv burp, please
best gomedy programme: russell brand's ponderland ( - he's a mate of morrissey - & also the only funny one out of the nominees )
best situation gomedy: the it growd is the most likeable but i guess peep show or the thick of it will win
& that's it - get yr bets on now
( note to self: watch more telly in 2008 ) ( question to self: HOW...? )
