ZOMG I KNOW! And the FIRST song that came up by them was 1s and 0s, and I had no idea how to transcribe a bunch of modem sounds, so I just skipped it. Of all the freakin' songs, E-Mail Girl!

I'm going to do a lot of partials, because who knows how many people recorded And Then He Kissed Me, or who did it originally, it's just one of those songs that's always been around. Anyway, that's #1. #8 is Life in a Northern Town by ... someone. #10 is REM, Losing My Religion, #12 is the talky bit from the start of My Boyfriend's Back, 15 is from Guys and Dolls,Uncle Arvide's More I Cannot Wish You, with the odd lyric about 'a lickerish tooth', which I have to say is not a romantic image though I see what he was getting at. #19 is The Beatles, You Got to Hide Your Love Away, and #24 is Not Fade Away, which I think of as the Stones, but Buddy Holly actually wrote it. There you go.

You get extra special bonus points for not only ID-ing More I Cannot Wish You, but calling out Uncle Arvide in particular! That is one of my favorite songs from my absolute favorite musical of all time. I always thought it was "a licquorice tooth," like a sweet tooth, which sort of made more sense, but I didn't even know lickerish was a word, and now that I've looked it up that seems like an odd choice, too.

And I had no idea the Stones had also covered Not Fade Away!

1. "And then He Kissed Me" by... an old band I don't know :)
8. Dream Academy - Life in a Northern Town (I LOVE that song!)
23. Counting Crows - Mrs Robinson's Lullaby

Isn't it the best song? It's the only reason I know who Dream Theater is.

I completely believe you knew all the oldies. And that's odd, because I just did a search for #3's lyrics (I mean, as "X song lyrics by X") and they came up. . .so. . .weird!

ah, you know what? more searching has shown me that I may have misheard one of the words in that lyric. So I am going to fix that now. . .
