I am currently trying to save money to go to India sometime between November of this year and March of next year. I want to go for between ten and fourteen days.  What's the best place in India to see the Holi festival (festival of color)? We were told that Rajasthan is best, but does anyone have any suggestions for a specific place in Rajasthan?

I'm currently in India and debating whether it is worth going up to Dharamsala / McLeod Ganj. Has anyone been there? Any suggestions?

p.s. I'm interested in Tibetan culture and religion, and have read quite a bit about it.

Is there a good way to get from northern India to China overland? As far as as I know, there are no trains... Are there buses? Anything going through Nepal?

I am talking about February, so it will probably be snowy/wintry.

We are not easily scared, so rough travel is all right as long as it is plausible.
