It's already the 3rd, so I'm not likely to make a poem a day during April, but I'm going to give it my best shot. Here's today's offering:
The future arrived
in a box today
cardboard packed with dreams
compressed into seeds,
rattling packets
of peas, cucumbers,
beets, radishes, beans,
and whatever else
I ordered last month.
Sauntering slowly
home in the spring sun
I dreamt of planting,
of earth warm and moist,
of shy sprouts revealed,
first leaves unfurling,
soft blossoms, ripe fruit.
Dreaming of gardens,
I checked the weather.
Tomorrow's forecast: snow.
