I've been banging my head against the Internet for almost two hours, and I'm no closer to finding out the answer to this. Or even to finding out where I might look for the answer.
So I throw it out to you, my LJ compatriots. Say you've got, like, a mountain in your backyard, and you've got a strong suspicion that there's silver in dem dere hills. You're not a mining conglomerate, so you can't just back the old earthmover up to the slope and start excavating yet. How do you determine where the metal is, or if there even is any? Do you use a thirty dollar metal detector you bought off of eBay? Or are there more modern, efficient, and preferably handheld methods you can use for locating the ore?
Anybody got any ideas, or do I need to buy a subscription to the
Mining Journal and hope for the best?
