Sorely disappointed (not unexpectedly) in the movie version of Rent, seen clear and up close rather than as bootlegged overseas thing.
Two main areas they went wrong:
1) Messing with the timeline
2) "Toning down" the performance of stage actors - they seemed to fall too flat
Angel and Collins, with Santa Fe and I'll Cover You, are about the only parts that really work. Without you is only half bad.
Sigh.
