Omigosh, I think Tim Martin Gleason might be the best Phantom I've seen yet!!!
The man has seriously gorgeous hands. Definitely musician hands. To. Die. For.
And he uttered a completely Snape-worthy "You try my patience" (with a HISS!!) that just gave me chills.
Raoul was also very good, Mme Giry a phenom, Christine pretty good (though I did not like her Wishing You Were... something was a bit off as she moved through different parts of her voice), and Meg was great too. As a character, I don't usually have much use for Meg... but this one had something. This production seems to play up the "thrall" of not only PTO with Christine, but her initial thrall with him as well. All very sensual, more than I remember previously.
And the music itself... as heartstopping as always. With a very nice seat at the front of the side loge, stage right, I had an excellent view of the pit and could watch them too. Curtain was a bit in the way of the dressing room mirror and of the staircase during Masquerade, but otherwise the view was most marvelous.
But Phantom.... oooo, gimme a good opera ghost and I'm a happy camper... Make him one with beautiful hands....
