Does whatever a spider can...

I don't often get to scoop free_laddicals on comic-book movie news, but since I have a three-hour time zone advantage, I'll post this bit I saw: Spider-Man 4 had its start of shooting delayed because of disagreements over the villain. Sam Raimi wants the Vulture; the studio wants the Black Cat. Evidently this is taking the same lines as the previous movie, where Raimi wanted Sandman, and the studio shoehorned Venom in. (That seems like a plausible explanation to me, because wow, "shoehorned" is just about the right word for Venom's role in that movie.)

Seems like Raimi really is going through the list of classic villains, which does make me wonder why he hasn't used the Lizard yet, since he's obviously set that up in the previous films. Still, I think you can put the Black Cat in a movie with another villain, so long as you stick to the "morally ambiguous cat-burglar" angle, rather than the absurd "hot She-Vulture" nonsense we were hearing about last month.
