Last Thursday, i had my interview for the Global Entry program. It is ostensibly a Customs initiative to funnel citizens who frequently travel out of the country through the system a little quicker, but TSA has jumped on-board and used it to get people for the TSA-PreChek program which lets you go through the "express lane" without having to take off your shoes or unpack your laptop. They took my photo and electronic fingerprints (NO INK!!) to go with all of the other info that that they had on me. Considering i held a security clearance for 22 years, they only had to go back so far i would think. That and $100 (which my AMEX card refunded!) got me my first "three beeps" on Monday morning. The joy was short-lived as i was selected by the metal detector for random screening though, to be honest, it was just a swipe and i had i needed to put my shoes back on, i would have barely had time. No matter, it'll work out just fine.
And now...an irresistably cute picture of the kids being lazy this past Sunday.
