Thanksgiving morning was not too cold at all, even though a little overcast. The sun was just a short bit down the interstate according to the radio, so we would be patient. i took the kids for a walk and soon enough it showed up.
We did chores around the house. i had to make a flyer for our charity silent auction (thanks again, Steve/rexsteed!) Matt worked on setting up his Christmas village. The kids watched intently thinking all this bustle looked a lot when Matt made dinner and they were waiting patiently for something yummy to fall. No such luck. Fred consoled himself by watching the American Dog Show. He was rooting for the toy category, but the terrier won.
The afternoon sun in the guest room was very nice and the kids had figured out that the sheepskin i'd put on the bed would be comfy and just jumped on up. How did they pull that off? They can really launch themselves when they want to.
We went out to my older brother's place for the family get-together. His house is a converted, turn-of-the-century (2 turns, actually) general store. The kitchen used to be dry goods storage. The front bathroom was the cooler. my great-niece (who is just shy of 11, but i swear she was so much smaller last time i saw her!) made everyone thanksgiving cards and put really random numbers on them...then had a raffle! Matt and i won a cute little decorative cabbage...a poor man's bonzai! LOL! A fun time and good to catch up with everyone.
