In the midst of all the hubbub this weekend, there were also a couple of movies on the agenda. On Sunday we went to the Chase to see "Black Swan". What a trip! Definitely an Aronofsky film. Take your typical backstage story with all the roles in place - Natalie Portman as the up-and-comer getting her big break, Winona Ryder as the washed up star, Barbara Hershey as the stage mother from hell who sacrificed all for her daughter plus the new rival and the lecherous director and all the boxes are checked. Now take the whole thing and twist it. Class, culture and crazy bitches!
On Sunday, we got up and caught an early matinee of "TRON Legacy" at the Ronnies. I asked for two tix and the girl said "8 dollars". "Are you sure that's for two?" Seems it's only four bucks before noon. Sweet. OK, so we dropped another 20 at the concession stand, but every little bit, eh? The movie was a lot of fun and the effects were pretty cool even though half the film could have been shot in black and white. All our friends said don't bother paying for the 3-D so we skipped that and don't think we missed anything. The music was great and the connections to the original were respectful. Afterwards, we went for a McRib since I'd mentioned I hadn't had one in years. I gave my extra one (only a dollar more) and an order of fries to this homeless guy that they were letting hang out to get out of the cold. I hope he enjoyed it more than I did mine.
